As long as you change it when you should, any recognizeable oil should be good. Up to now, I had been using 10w30 conventional oil. No brand in particular. Castrol, quaker, mobil 5000, and have not had any issues. I got my car with somewhere between 60 to 70 thousand miles. At this point, I am about to hit 180,000 and have not had any issues. Not even oil consumption (BTW I have a lead foot too ). So yeah, just change it when you should, and youll be safe.

any conventional or synthetic should be fine. you should note though that it is recommended to use 5w30. 10w is okay to use but 5w is supposed to work better in colder areas.

I second this, Rotella T6 (blue jug) is great oil, I use it in the Alero, and '83 Kawasaki 550. It is a full synthetic diesel oil.. it's tough enough for a turbocharged diesel truck at ~20,000 mile change intervals, it'll handle your little gas engine with ease. BTW, running a good heavy duty full syn oil, you can safely extend your oil change intervals to twice a year... just be sure to use a high quality oil filter to match the high quality oil. FRAM Ultra Synthetic filter is good (probably the only good filter FRAM makes), so is the Mobil 1 synthetic filter, there's a couple other good syn filters too... I just forget which ones. Regular cheap paper element filters don't work so well for synthetic oils.
