6.5 door speaker

I know I've read somewhere a while back, but couldn't find it in the search. I know we can get 6.5" in the door, but I don't remember the difficulty and if it needed adapter brackets and if so which ones? Any help is appreciated. Trying to replace/upgrade for the wife.

there's a few ways to skin that cat.

1 get a 6.5 trim ring. Remove door panel and stock speaker w/ trim. Fit speaker with trim ring to the door making sure the door panel fits over it still.

2 cut door panel and mount it to the door panel.

3 fiberglass door panels like in mine

4 not quite in the doors, but you can get the q logic kick panels and mount speakers in the kick panel area.

Would this work? On the gagt forum I found that these will work with the speakers I'm looking at. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Metra-82-...l13=&veh=s em I want to deff put them behind the door panel in the stock location. Do i even need am adapter? Is this the same thing as the trim ring you are talking about?

Sure. It's just like a trim ring. Some speakers may be too tall still, so be aware of their mounting depth.

And yes the stock door panel fits over it just fine.
