fixing a loose mirror...

i haven't torn into the door at all yet, i wanted to ask before i did...are the side mirrors on these cars able to be tightened? my mom's 01 Alero recently developed a loose mirror on the passenger side. i know they are suppose to be breakaway mirrors but this one is just LOOSE. so, is there a way to adjust tension on mirror or do i just have to replace the entire mirror? any help would be greatly appreciated!

if you got the one with springs in it, I know one of my mirrors had the spring mounts broke.... But you could also check the bolts... Just pull off the tweeter panel and pull out the foam piece. You'll see three bolts. Make sure the nuts are tightened down. Also check the springs and see if any of them are boken off or just came loose. You'll probably need to pull the mirror glass off for that.

I just grabbed the glass from the bottom and gently pulled out. You can hold on to the top or something with your other hand and just carefully pull it out. It's not to hard.

This is an old thread from January of last year. I'm hoping he got it fixed. 50 bucks isn't bad! Nice find!
