bloody e-brake!

Hi all. Just found out my e brake is kaput again and have the Spanish revision test on Monday!
I have had this problem before and jacked up car rear and removed the discs to get to adjusters for e brake shoes. I spent ages getting the shoes as close to the drums as possible and all was ok for a while. Then the other day I heard the auto aduster go twang and now no e brake again! So looks like center dash console coming off again! Any ideas why the stupid auto adjuster keeps recoiling and how can I fix it?
Thanks

The main issue may be the cables. The adjuster adjust due to the "feel" of the cables. But this darn thing is very finicky about how easily the cable can be pulled by it.
Remember you have 3 cable, lever to rear, and than left and right rear.

See if any of these cables moves with a slight effort.
If in doubt, replace em, and see if the new ones move more freely. The sad thing, its a bit hit and miss. Had to reorder my rear ones a few times till I got a set that first, was done well, and second moved easy enough.
This cured a bunch of my lever way - which oddly is very important for German TÜV - and finally equaled my brakes enough to pass inspection.

IIRC there was some kind of adjusting procedure to the auto adjust, but I cant remember what exactly it was.
