Horn Opinion

Hey guys,
I got an 03 Alero and the brass colored plate that grounds the horn in my steering column is messed up. So I took the pin out of my multi function switch to disable the horn. I thought about replacing the plate but I don't want to damage the steering wheel as I have heard they are hard to remove even with a puller. Could I wire the ground wire for the horn to a 10 amp push button and just mount it on my dash next to the hazard switch? My alero doesn't have to be pretty, just functional. I would like any thoughts on this. Thanks guys

I was going to put mine on a push button or toggle switch as well. Just never got around to it. I wouldnt pull the steering wheel just to fix that, good choice. Even with a puller mine cracked and made it unusable. If you want to keep the horn mount a push button somewhere, should be fine. I've disconnected mine and pulled the fuse, been without it pretty much since I got the alero. Been a few times I wish I'd had it though..

I would be interested in this also. My horn gives a short beep after the doors are locked, but I can't make it blow on the steering wheel anywhere.

The horn beeps when you lock the car cuz the BCM is grounding the circuit.

Thanks papa. It should work. I've been without a horn for awhile.
