Clutch Diagnosis
Something with my clutch has been 'off' lately. My money is leaning towards master cylinder, maybe slave cylinder. While the car is rolling there is never a problem but if I am at a complete stop 90% of the time I will have to hit reverse to get into gear or really cram it in there (and you can fell it slide in when it goes) double clutching does not work either, I figured I would try bleeding. Two different times now the peddle will stay on the floor and have to pumped several times to rebuild pressure. I can't find anyone who has had quite my problem but the master cylinder sounds like the most likely culprit, I think. a good place to start? other ideas?

I never let the tank get below half full. Due to everythings condition we didnt do a lot of bleeding anyway. and I forgot to mention that yes, the fluid is dirty as crap. It will get pretty thoroughly cleaned when I get into fixing this problem.

there was no sludge to speak of. New master cylinder assemblies come with everything from the tank to bleeder/attachment into the slave. Rockauto has it cheap makes me want to just order it. It looks like its behind the fuse box on the firewall correct?

Fixed
I was out looking for the source of a recent rattle, I found something better instead. Coming off of the tranny there is a bolt that mounts the shifter linkage before the cluster of bearings and crap. That bolt was allowing about a half inch of play! I tightened it down, and bam! Much less play in the shifter, goes into gear every time from a stop, better then it has ever been. There is no more push and slide into gear crap, clutch would feel a bit funny sometimes to. It either in gear, or not in gear, shifts amazing clutch feels right in every gear despite momentum or not. I feel like I had looked at this before, it has been getting worse so I guess it worked its self out far enough I could distinctively see it being loose.
