Are the best for the Ecotec? I'm debating between a 4-2-1 set up or a 4-1 set up. My goal is to get more power in general as well as having a mean exhaust note.
I would like to keep having power around the 3500-4000 rpm mark, which is usually where the Ecotec starts losing power, but I would also like to enhance the low end torque.
Which one works for me? I know that 4-2-1 is better for low end torque and 4-1 is good for top power, but what happens to the other side of things?
I know I won't be making V8 power... that's why I'm getting a Camaro next year. Shooting for a 2nd gen but I will probably end up in an 3rd gen IrocZ.
But for now, I timed myself and I seem to take about 15 seconds (give or take) to get to 60. That's a bit ridiculous. I would like to shave that down to 8-12 seconds. Also, I want my exhaust to sound a bit like this...
8-12 seconds!? You're going to need A LOT more mods for that. Turbo, engine build, tranny...etc.
I don't have the 4 cylinder but when i put my headers on it was a big difference. I already had an intake and exhaust on it so when those headers went on it complemented them VERY nicely. I suggest doing intake, exhaust THEN header....you 4 cylinder guys are lucky....that header is cake to put on....try doing headers on a 6....you will never do them again

If it takes you 15 seconds to get to 60, you have some serious problems with that car.
My 18.5 second Delta gets to 60 in 10 seconds.
You should already be around 8 seconds with the Eco
I have an eco and as he says you may want to figure out the problems with your car...depending on what traction i get it takes me anywhere from 7.5-9 sec with the ecotec...your tranny almost has to be slipping or something
EDIT: I decided to double check myself so I went and did two 0-60 runs both had a small amount of wheel spin and both were about 10.4 seconds in 15 seconds i was at a little over 70...that was letting the tranny shift itself...the other first thing that tells me something is off is at least with mine the torque is in the upper rpm until you get to 3rd and it doesn't want to shift to drive very easily but considering it hits the governor at about 6k in 3rd i would say you don't need to worry about that part

try putting a tsudo 4-2-1 header on a eco lol. once you tilt the engine its probably easy, i decided not to do that though. it was a pita
and i'll try to get a exhaust clip in the next few days. it doesn't really sound that awesome. but its not the worse i heard either

Well it was 15 give or take, there were some issues with it, but I will time it again soon.
I do feel a loss in power in it SOMETIMES though. I'm not sure if the trans is slipping or if it needs fluid or if it's a totally different issue (because according to GM it's a serviceless trans *rollseyes*)
Here is a video of when I first installed it (i think it had a minor exhaust leak, thats why is was a tad loud)
And then here was a little pull i did getting onto the highway (its an automatic)
PM me if your interested!! Everything is already fitted for the ecotec so itll only take a little over an hour to install!

With the 4-1 pacesetter you will gain a bit of top end, like you say between 3.5-5000. Not much difference in the low or mid range, maybe just a slight shift in the powerband towards top end. Will also depend on the size exhaust you get. I think both are good options, with the tsudo more difficult to install and more potential for leaks. If you go with the pacesetter, have the ball flange cut and a v-band and flex pipe welded on for a solid setup. As for some sound clips, here it is with magnaflow highflow cat, resonator and muffler.
