7x Crankcase Position Sensor (cps)

Got around to changing this. Not that I'm sure it needed it, just on general principle. The original looked OK, but as long as it was out, I went ahead and stuck a new one in there. (but I compromised, used an Autozone one )

I was able to get a wrench on it in there. You have to pry off a clip that sits on the top of the bolt first, they route another cable thru at the same spot.



Clean area around the sensor, remove bolt. Gently twist sensor as you pull, should come out easily.



The original looked OK, once the oil was wiped off:



Very tight quarters in there, got scatched up a bit.

Hint: attach plug to new sensor before installing it.

Feel free to add info, just thought I'd snap some pics in there.

Nope, just removed some skin off my forearms

But you're thinking of the other cps. This one is easier, under the rear header.

That sensor can go bad even if it "looks good" and is not throwing a code. The first indicator that it is on its way out is a MAF code! Yea, a MAF code...
They are plastic and are trapped in a lot of heat. The casing will develop hairline cracks that you litterly need to inspect under a microscope to see them. But when it happens, those cracks open up when heated and skews the readings from them causing stalling and studdering when coming to a stop, and hard hot starts. We should all make this little 30 dollar sensor part of our tune ups... trust me, I had a problematic one that had me running in circles for 2 years until we figured it out!
