compact supercharger from acura CL

I was wondering if it might work on the 3400 if course with some fabrication.

Some one was able to mount a rotrex blower the 3400 by removing the AC compressor and mounting it in that location IIRC.They sold their setup a while back. I cant remember the model number but it was the most compact design I've seen.

It would be cool but you could make a turbo kit for less money and probably more power.

I didnt click it but im guessing its the comptech one? If so its ok but its nothing soecial. Your going to spend more on it and the fab to make it fit than you would building a motor and turboing it

people comparing their boost psi level with supercharger kits think the one with the higher pressure is making more power. no, your exhaust is just far more restrictive and all that air is just backing up and not supplying the engine with more boom.

it's a "hEATON" as he says.. they generate a LOT of heat when they build pressure, and hotter air is less dense, less efficient in the combustion process, meaning less power. when I had a supercharger, my car would be slow as hell during the day when it was hot, but at night and cool temperatures it was quicker

I'm with [ion] C2 on this one. For the cost you will spend to buy the supercharger and have it modified to work you might as well just do a turbo build. It will be easier and will produce more power then that little Eaton.

It's all about intercooling, too, That's the great equalizer when it comes to the final results. After that it's the amount of air it can move. Try running your turbo without an intercooler first if you think that 13 psi sans intercooler is a free lunch. I'm interested to see the result.

In any event, that Acura kit would not be a good idea for an Alero, the selling point is "50-state street legal" and bolt-on. But for the Acura, you still need to buy a smaller battery.

Assuming you have the ability to intercool a roots supercharger. On my engine the GM setup was integral to the manifold. Unless you're running a liquid to air intercooler, it becomes impractical and inefficient to route piping all over the place for a positive displacement s/c.

Turbo side is pretty hot piping, engine side is pretty cool piping. IATs ambient compared to 150+ with non-intercooled supercharger. Intercoolers are amazing. Doesn't matter how how it is outside, the air going in stays pretty cool.

I stopped measuring past about 250 degrees out of the blower lol. You are right, remote intercooling the Roots blower is quite an engineering challenge, but it's been done -- the T-bird coupe was on the right track as far as drivability. But then they stuck the intercooler behind the radiator.

Unless your going to do some serious (expensive) engineering, the M62 won't keep up with a well-thought out turbo build, but especially not dollar-for dollar. I think as a convenient way to give the car some pep on the low end and stay street-legal, it's a good route to go.
