Airbags are not necessarily interchangeable. They have different connectors on the back of them. I'm not sure if its a year to year thing, or if its different car to car. But while changing mine (damn horn switch broke) I found this out.
Thankfully, the airbag in mine was still good and the cover/switch could be swapped from one to the other.
It is a year to year thing. The yellow plugs start in 2000. there is a big bomb yellow that goes from 2000 to 2002, and the small that goes from 2003 to 2004, but the yellows are interchangeable.
