Cutting out the arm rest area on a regal?

I have a sub in the trunk of a regal gs. I've remove the 6x9s which let quit a bit more bass in, wondering if I cut out the area behind the arm rest if will get a decent gain in more bass in the cabin. Then just cover the cut hole with some felt or acoustic cloth so can't really tell I cut it out.

What a lot of people may do is either cut out the center and actually run the port or direct the port through there.

Or a lot of other people just port their box through the rear deck. As in cut a hole, and run the port up to, or even through the rear deck. In most cases a beauty panel or something of the sort is made. This way, you still have rear fill when you are not full our bassing, and a lot of the spl is let in.

Yeah know yalero ran a port up on his impala. I have a crappy box now like 3.4 cu vent is tuned like 33 which isn't that great for sub I have. On winisd seems my best bet so far is a 4cu tuned to like 39. But also been kinda reading up on 4th orders.
Found a pleasant meadian for now just not pushing the rear seats all the way back that they lock help quite abit. Get new box dunno though be nice just the armrest but if by some chance someone puts it up don't want to mess sub up. And doing a port in the deck I just dunno about cutting it.

Well you gotta make some sacrifices for this situation. Personally, I'm not hacking anything in my car up to the point of cutting a hole in the rear deck or if I had the option, chopping up the back seat. Ride around with the back seats down, and when someone rides, just deal with the loss of sound pressure. That sound pressure needs a way to get into the cabin area. Have your box built with Sub Back and Port Back and just drive around with your seats down. A lot more sound pressure that way plus nothing is permanent.
