I have been looking around on the internet for some good subs. I listen to mostly rock music so I want some nice bass. I don't want to spend too much money, because audio is not the most important thing to me.
I have noticed that you can get the MTX Thunder 8000 very reasonable on the internet because of MTX's new line of subs. My question to anyone who has heard it is, how is it? Or do you have any other suggestions. Do you think i should get 2 10"s or 1 12"?
Also, has anyone purchased subs off of ebay before. Alot of the sellers have really good feedback and say they are only selling brand new subs. They are a lot cheaper than other places though.
Thanks for the help
Joe

If you listen to rock mostly I would get 2 10" subs. I've only heard MTX stuff that they sell at Circuit City and I was not too impressed with it.

yea... mtx is very sloppy. for rock i would have said fosgate back in the day, but their newer stuff is a little sloppy too... lately i havent heard a whole lot that was affordable that i've been impressed with, although i did like the polk momo's.... if you've got enough power going to them.

I agree with formula, you cant go wrong with Polk Momos, and they respond very well on the upper power limits too. Hopefully I will have mine fully powered within the next month once I can take advantage of my employee discount at best buy. There also very affordable, I got my two tens for $100 at circuit city right after christmas last year.

depends on what amp your running i had two mtx 8000 in 12s and i had a 1501d amp that was bumping the neighborhood down... but now i moved up to audiobahn and i think im going to win some more competitions for a very loud system... my advise to you is to check out ebay...

i personally dont like MTX especially for rock it always sounded kinda dirty, Im very partial to Alpine, their type R subs are fairly cheap and are very clean, i have 2 12s and they work great for everything, I agree with everone else tho, momos are very nice subs if i wasnt biased to alpine id go with those or infinity perfects which are also very nice.

Well. I have the MTX Thunder 8000 and I am hooking it up to a MTX Thunder 801D. My friend has the same amp on his JL W3's and after blaring his subs the amp doesn't get hot at all. I haven't finished the install yet, but I tried his amp with the sub and it sounds great.
