I guess it could have been worse

OK so after I pick up my son, I'm driving down the road and then my car starts going putt putt putt putt really fast, the SVS and trac off light come on and the car loses power.

OK so I'm like WTF? Sounds like a plug popped out and feels like it, but no pop when it happened.

Pull over in a parking lot, pop the hood and, yeah, the number 1 plug is hanging down.

Shit, no tools to fix it right now

So yeah I drive the car, and keep driving it. I turn the car off and coast as much as I can. So I finally pull over as the SES light starts flashing. I happen to pull over at garage.

I can't reach down without pulling off the tower brace. There happens to be an auto parts store across the street. I pick up a stubby socket wrench and a pretty cool "T" handle spark plug tool thingy.

Had to wait to put it back in. Got it in and the car runs good

It just sucks that t happened when I had my son with me, but it could have happened later when I was on the NJ turnpike, that would have been much worse

I carry a LOT of tools.... jump starter box.... scanner.....extra fuel pump....small floor jack.....Acc belt, stock...

I've learned to keep a spare engine in the trunk along with a tool box. That's probably why I have only run in the 14's so far LOL

Glad to hear it was easy to resolve. So, did the plug just work it's way loose, or did you blow it out (strip the threads)?

I am also wondering how this happens. However, it does explain the occasional spark plug I see on the side of the road. I occasinally see auto parts on the side of the road while out riding my bicycle. Usually it's mostly just those heat shields. Still wondering how the person who lost their wheel bearings got home though.

A lot of those parts are from people that use the bed of their truck for a dumpster. Things have a way of "falling out". As much as I bad mouth them, I did drive around with a bunch of cut up exhaust tubing for more than a few weeks in the back of mine.

I have never heard of spark plugs just coming out. Must be too much BOOST

I really hate when things go wrong with a vehicle with the kids in there...I can handle it no problem...If I got to walk or get help or something, but the thought of being stranded or breaking down with the family in there I dislike allot. Glad everything worked out!
