there was 8 cars in my class ranging from 1957 to mine.

judging criteria? well for the whole criteria you would need to read the OCA judging rule book. there was 1000 points possible. it is a deduction system. they cover every point on the car and is broke up into sections. they check rubbers, glass, fitmentment of all body panels, tires, trunk, interior, engine. they even check owner manuals and that year brochure. you also have to have spirt items. a fire extingher.
they are looking for bad hoses, overspray, bad paint. chips, stains, you name it they look for it. Basically even if it is modified it should look inside and out and top to bottom (they even look underneath) as clean as if it just rolled off the showroom floor. but for more info here you go....

All entry's must be driven onto the judging area. NO VEHICLES SHALL BE UNLOADED ON THE CONCOURSE. Non adherence to this rule could forfeit your entry. Entries must be completely operable and should be able to start, pull forward, backward, turn and stop under its own power. The meet Head Judge, if he is in doubt as to the entries operation, may request a demonstration of these functions.

All entries must remain on the concourse until the end of judging. Early departures maybe approved by the meet Head Judge. Unapproved early departures will result in the forfeiture of an award.

Entries to be judged must have the participant portion of the judging form completed. The judging form must be in an available, conspicuous location at/on the vehicle during show hours. If not, the entry may be disqualified from judging.

Each entrant or his/her representative must be present during judging of the vehicle. If this presents a conflict, the entrant must coordinate with the Class Judge or suffer possible point deductions. The Class Judge has final authority as to when a vehicle will be judged.

All entries must have an Oldsmobile body and a GM engine. If the engine is not an Olds then it must be factory production installation or authorized dealer installation. Proof may be required.

Anyone bringing a vehicle to the show which is not the PRE-REGISTERED vehicle will not have that vehicle judged but will be permitted to participate as a "show only". Hardshi

Convertible tops will be judged according to the Judging Form. Whether the vehicle is displayed with the top up or down, the top, its boot, the interior mechanisms and the rear window must be examined by the judges.

STOCK/RESTORED STOCK means that the vehicle is as it appeared when new plus any accessories of the era and so called "promo vehicles" must provide proof of existence. Items that are WEAR DATED and have been replaced such as tires, shocks, mufflers, filters and battery DO NOT exclude an entry from this class. Dual exhausts do not force an entry out of this class. Any other item that has been replaced due to wear is permissible as long as the owner has attempted to restore the item as close as possible to the original.

STREET-STOCK means that a vehicle MAY NOT HAVE any of the modifications listed under the definition of MODIFIED. A Street-Stock entry MUST have dual exhaust and either changes to the sheet metal and trim or improved carburetion or ignition. Changes which DO NOT affect the vehicle's street performance, e.g. electric fuel pump, 12-volt battery, mag wheels, engine chrome, radial tires, etc., will not alone qualify the vehicle for Street-Stock.

A "MODIFIED" entry has one or more of the following:
A non-original GM power plant which is either “hi-performance” or an increase of 50 cubic inches.
Major body modification.
Chromed or de-chromed 30% or more.
Major change to riding height.
“Custom" paint.
Non-original hood scoops.
Vehicle set up for racing.
Non-stock suspension (except shocks).
Differential other than year of manufacture

"UNRESTORED CLASS" includes vehicles which are at least 25 years old and have no more than two of the following repairs (each lettered item or portion thereof is considered one repair). Items "a" and "d" MAY NOT exceed the quantities listed. If they do then the entry MUST BE RECLASSIFIED to the Stock/Restored class:
Two panels repainted.
New trunk interior.
One-half of the seat cushions / backs replaced.
Two glass panes replaced.
Headliner replaced.
New floor coverings.
Vinyl / Convertible top replaced.
Bumper(s) replaced or rechromed.
Engines repaint.
Replaced shocks, suspension parts or complete exhaust.

"PRESENT" includes all entries which are five model years old or less. If an entry in this class accumulated LESS THAN 5,000 miles it CANNOT be awarded Best of Class. This class is optional for Toronados, Hursts and the Performance classes; however, the 5,000 mile rule applies in all cases.

"SENIOR" means that an entry in one of the regular Junior classes has won Best of Class and received a minimum of 975 points (post 1998) at a National Meet. The vehicle MUST then be registered in "SENIOR" class at the next National Meet it enters. This classification will REMAIN with the vehicle regardless of the owner. If an owner wishes to reclassify a vehicle from "SENIOR", he/she must make sufficient modifications to the vehicle and show evidence of these modifications to the OCA Chief Judge 90 days prior to the National Meet pre-registration cut-off date.

"PRESERVATION SENIOR" includes vehicles that have won Best of Class as a Senior (highest 900 points). A vehicle in this class is still judged but competes only against the judging form whereas the Junior class is "Peer" judging. Each time the vehicle enters a National Meet as a Preservations Senior, it receives a Preservation Participant award from the host chapter and when it attains 900 or more points at a National Meet, it receives an award supplied by OCA.

SENIOR/PRESERVATION SENIOR DROP: If an Owner wishes to have a vehicle removed from either of these classes he/she must adhere to the following:
Select the two lowest scores from any of the proceeding National Meet.
Ascertain the two scores DO NOT total more than 1799 points (lost judging sheets or non-attendance scoring 901).
Notify OCA Chief Judge 90 days prior to the National Meet pre-registration cut-off date.

Changes of ownership DOES NOT affect the classification of a vehicle.

Awards will be made as follows:
Third Place - All entries scoring 700 - 799
Second Place - All entries scoring 800 - 899
First Place - All entries scoring 900 - 1000
Best of Class - Highest 900 points
Senior Class - Highest scoring entry with 975 points or more (post 1998) advances.

In case of a tie for Best of Class, the Class Judges will review the operational integrity of the TIED VEHICLES. If the entries still tie, then one point will be given to the entry driven farthest to the Meet. If during judging, operational integrity is one of the criteria being used for the ENTIRE class, then the farthest DRIVEN rule will take precedence.

If after tabulation, a class' scores are deemed to be too low, the Meet Head Judge may, after viewing the entire class, assign points to more fairly reflect the standings of the vehicles in that class. This adjustment will be made to ALL VEHICLES in that class.

"FOR SALE" signs are prohibited on judging day and shall NOT exceed 5" x 7" at any time.

A judge may NOT judge a class in which he/she has an entry, or has participated in the restoration of an entry.

Each entry must have its OWN FIRE EXTINGUISHER placed at the left front wheel of the vehicle. A deduction of 20 points will be made if missing.

Paint DOES NOT have to match the color code of the vehicle. If the vehicle was only offered in certain colors, e.g. Rallyes and Hursts, the entry must be that color.

"Accessories of the era" may be treated as dealer options and proof of authenticity may be required.

There is NO PENALTY for updated safety equipment. However, this is limited to seat belts, tail/brake lights, directional signals, battery disconnect switch or any law requirement.

Basically to sum that whole big post up............

they judge everything on your car. and i mean everything.

for instance, if from the factory our cars have a gap under our head lights and it is no more than 1" well if your car has a 1.5" gap you will be deducted points. i think you get the point.

Ahh, ok thats cool. So you had an advantage from the get-go for the car only being 5 years old. Thats good. So adding things like springs/rims etc would take you out of the stock class.

Very cool Scot. So, what kind of info did you get out of the OSV guy? Are they keeping the last OSV Alero or crushing it, too?

no advantages at the nationals unless your car came right off the showroom and went into stock class even then that hurts ya because they can see that and know it isn't fair.

only advantages at the OCA nationals is if you keep your car in a plastic bag and it never sees any dirt.

Holy crap, Scot! My head hurts just trying to read all of that. My car is less than 3 years old and there's no way it could compete due to all of the scratches and stuff. If I had a car that was worth bringing to one of those shows I'd say forget about me reading the different class rules and just tell them to "put me wherever".

tell me about it. the rules they have are way too many. but it makes it fair and when you win you know you have a damn good car and it is very prestigues.

a lot of people out side of the OCA don't really understand that. but it's cool. gives you a chance to educate people.

to be honest I didn't understand it till you posted that.
I was thinking how you could win with a basically stock car, with some engine mods. (Not talking down to you, just what I was thinking at the time) Now that you posted it, it made sense. Its not a car show in the normal sense.
