Hi
My name is Spencer, I have a 2000 GL2, 2 door, quad 4, auto, midnight blue (surprisingly good paint for a 10 y/o). Its a DD. I have been a member for a while and do far more reading than posting. I work at advance Auto Parts, I have quite a bit of knowledge about cars, especially electronics. I am by no means an expert, and love to learn even more. I am also a Volunteer Firefighter and am very interested in emergency lighting setups.
Upgrades:
WAI (cut down from one I had laying around)
Optima Yellowtop
New pads/rotors/calipers
Custom switch panel below radio-work in progress
Blue interior lighting
Single Kicker C10 (past my loud thumping days)
Pioneer Head Unit
Flashing show LEDs in taillights
LED Tail/Brake lights
Rewired brake lights (the ones on the trunk light up too)
LED CHMSL
8000K HID swap
Cleared headlights*
For anyone who knows lighting:
Dual Talon up front in blue
Star/SVP Phantom Traffic Director in all amber to the rear
*Wish I knew about this site when I did this, a blow dryer and a pocket knife did the trick but it was a PITA!
Future Plans: Its a DD, so not too much, I would love to build the engine and turbo or S/C, but i can't take it off the road for long
Projectors
Finish Switchbox
CAI
Exhaust (at least fix the leak... maybe replace it)
Rims, nothing too flashy
left rear strut, did the right when broke a few weeks ago
Front struts and springs
Might lower it
I am also getting many ideas from this site, it is a great resource.

Mine's always been a daily driver and only car, doesn't mean you can't do things to it.

I'm not saying I can't, but being a firefighter and not having a working vehicle 24/7 sucks. It would suck to miss a call because I chose to take stuff apart, its a slightly different issue when something breaks (ie. it sucks even more).
Also from what I have heard, most major performance mods increase my chances of breaking something, so I plan to stick to maintaining it as best I can, and fixing whatever breaks ASAP. I already got screwed this semester b/c I had a broken strut, I could shake the rear wheel back and forth a few inches. I ended up missing a whole week of classes because I tried to tackle it with a minimal supply of tools (not an issue anymore).
How reliable are these motors under boost?

keep it to relatively low PSI, and you shouldn't have issues aside from tuning. (just from reading other people's progress....Ion, Spilner for example)
seriously, where in Buffalo are you?

Welcome to the site, Squatch81.
I, like you, was a member way before I started posting. I just got the courage one day and stood at the plate and EVERYONE on here is pretty awesome and helpful. I am positive that you will enjoy your stay. Theses guys (and girls) kick ass when it comes to the Alero.

I'm going to be totally overhauling the Turbocharging section on Tuesday.
I might even do a How-To with pictures when I install my crap. Maybe not.. depends.
