My mazda was doing that and it was the halfshafts... it was a constant click click click when I turned. Its not good since its metal on metal and could leave you stranded. get em fixed Chris :-)

i just retested it again in my school parking lot....and heard nothing but the wheel moving. what the heck? it couldn't possibly come and go...

if you can change a wheel bearing fairly easy then the axle only takes a little more than
a bearing to change

every axle that i have changed has a ring on the transmisson side that holds it in to gear after you pull the bearing make sure that the car is supported very well as not to fall of the jack then reach in a give the axle a quick pull out and it should come right out

Reverse would be much more likely to trigger it, especially if it is not yet noticeable in forward gears.

Hey Im HOPING This is my problem. im not sure. but when i turn ONLY left i hear that clunk. and my Guesse would be my CV.But my left CV is Good boots are fine no cracks. But my right outter cv boot is cracked but not much greese hase come out. THE CLUNK I HEAR is on the left. soo Im not evan sure. I have been stumped on this for a few months now. i was just going to order all new gr-2's and mounds due to the mound in the rear thats F'ed.

ok... tested in reverse. turning the wheel left, yielded a little clicking just before it locked, then a few clicks on the way back, just at the very beginning. when i made it to the right, i heard nothing. went back left again, and it was silent, the whole time.
