Side Exhaust

the exhaust has to exit the body rear of the passenger compartment. the only reason I know is I looked in to it when I did the side exhaust on my truck

might be able to pull that off on one side only, or maybe a matching fake tip on the passenger side, but the pipe would run right under the gas tank, and that's a no-no. I don't know about on your car, but on mine, it's a plastic tank.

I'm going to do it once I convert to a trunk-mounted fuel cell, triple pipes on each side.

What about the SLR McLaren? They let out just in back of the front wheel.




Many ford trucks (like the lightning and other short wheelbase 1/2 tons) had the exhaust in front of the rear wheel.

Yes, but most of the laws state "behind the passenger compartment". (Lightning is a truck), and McLaren isn't a US make.

the SLR McLaren is a Mercedes, and yes you can go out and buy one (paris hilton has one...). I've seen one in at the dealer for service.
