The few sets that I would be looking at making require a core, so the only way I can make them is if you can find a spare set of headlights.

You won't go back to halogen after you experience HID, guaranteed.
FRom what I've heard on people that run HID low beams and halogen highs is that you'll never use your highs again.
However, this might only be true for the people running halogen light sockets that add glare n crap for other cars, isntead of a clean cutoff line like projectors.

I make the clusters by hand. From Cutting out the plexi shape, drilling holes, mounting LEDs, to solder-wiring.
Here is a pic of the clusters...before cleaning and mounting.

You still need your high beams with HIDs. While they're brighter and all, they still don't get the sides of the road and way off in the distance like the high beams do. Especially with the sharp cutoff line for cars with projectors (like my mom's Denali). But even on the Alero, I still use the high-beams. You should however wire them so that the highs and lows are on at the same time. It's not very good for the HIDs to cycle them like that.

Looks nice. Are the brake lights seperate LED's from the running tail lights or are they all dual contact LED's that get brighter? From that pic of the Eclipse and these discs, it looks like the outer cirlces are the running tail lights and maybe the middle of the circles light up as brake lights...

Exactly
This would be what it would look like with both running and brake:

I would say this would pertain to projectors, but w/o projectors, I have had no need to touch my high beams on both my Alero and my LS. I can see much more with much more contrast just using the HIDs. The high beams are just a dull flood of light. It also will pertain to the lumens of your HIDs. If you had a 6000K temp color or greater, I could see how the high beams come in handy. I have 4300K which will give probably the most light out of the range.
