RESULTS:
Apart from the fact that it was hot as balls out yesterday, the day was still kinda fun for me. Raced our Points Leader Chuck Render in our time shot and again 1st round. My car, slowed considerably by the heat and humidity, was still dead-on all night - running the same number every round.
1st round, I cut a .002 green. Chuck admitted he hit the tree a little harder after seeing me cut a good light (he was giving me 4.5 seconds head-start) and ended up going -.005 red.
2nd round I had Colegrove, a racer I knew I could easily beat and always have in the past. Again I get the head start and treed him by more than .04 seconds. I had him top-end, too, and hit the brakes to ensure I wouldn't break out. Turns out I hit the brakes a little too hard and he nosed passed me for the win. Had I left well enough alone and not hit the brakes I would have stayed over my dial and easily won. DAMN!
Had I won, I would have raced Riccardi in the Finals and would have been assured of at least $50 (or $100 if I won that race). At least I got extra seat time to prep for this Sunday's Points race. It's down to our last 3 races and I'm in 6th place, 2 points away from a tie in 4th. Top 5 get bonus money and an invite to the Bracket Finals in Maple Grove. Top 8 get jackets.
My friend arrived just as I was running 2nd round & he brought his 2 adorable kids with him (2 and 4 yrs old). We checked out the monster trucks before settling down in the stands to watch the Pro Mods, Jet dragsters & jet fire truck (!!!), Monster Trucks, and finally Robosaurus. The kids went nuts for the Monster Trucks and Robosaurus.
As soon as Robosaurus was in mid-chomp on vehicle #2 I said goodbye and shot out of the park to avoid getting caught up in the mass exodus.
