There is a diagnosis charge of $60.00 for the initial inspection and usually we can estimate the repair at that time. Sometimes the transmission would have to be removed for a diagnosis which would involve a $500 teardown charge. The diagnosis charge will go towards the repair if you would like to have them performed. Overhaul cost can range from $1,000 to $2,500 depending on findings.

i'm going to be needing my trans to be rebuilt soon and i figured i'd get a quote from a local chevy dealership. i'm guessing that a dealership is going to be the most expensive route so i'm estimating this to be on the higher side. in the next few days, i'm planning on getting some other quotes from transmission shops that other family members of mine have gone to in the past. does this qoute sound fair or is it on the pricy side becuz I know that a dealership would do a good job and use genuine gm replacement parts.
