I wouldn't. I like being able to start my car in the garage and not have it reek. And just because your state doesn't have emission testing doesn't mean it's LEGAL to remove the converter.

It was in a magazine a few months back. A test on a car that had an intake and cat-back exhaust already on it. If I remember correctly, first run they made with the stock cat, second run they made 5-8 more hp with a high flow cat, third run they made 1 more hp than the high flow with no cat. So you have to decide whether you want 1 more hp out of your setup or be street legal. There's no question in my book, I'll take the high flow cat any day.

absolutely spilner. And sats, you could do that, or do high flow and not have your car reek and know that your arent contributing to destroying the environment. And the resonator is a restriction, yes it is straight through but its that expansion chamber to change the exhaust not that significantly reduces exhaust velocities. I dont have any quotes to back that up but i thought it was just commonly understood, the same way that an overly huge exhaust causes issues.

"An exhaust resonator is used in some exhaust stystems to CHANGE THE TONE and timber of the exhaust sound. The resonator helps reduce the annoying vibrations of exhaust gas pulses with a length of perforated tubing inside an expansion chamber. The exhaust gasses partially escape the tubing diameter through the perforations into the expansion chamber. In the expansion chamber, the exhaust gasses expand and change tone. When the gasses re-enter the tubing, they rejoin the exhaust flow and dampen the vibrations of the combined flow, creating a more pleasing sound." BMWE34.net SO IT IS BASICALLY FOR SOUND PREFERANCE NOT FLOW RESTRICTION

have you ever seen the resonator of a N-body?

Wow, you live in like one of 3 provinces with no legislation for emissions... That's some crazy stuff!

ok enough said, if your going to go with a different setup on ur cat, go high flow, why bother being illegal for one horse. besides it is kind of an a-hole thing to do the the environment when it can be fixed so easily with virtually NO CHANGE in performance.
