CAI performance?
Honestly, do you guys notice a difference in power with your CAI, because the ones on ebay claim an increase across the ENTIRE rpm band. However, after hearing info about them, they seem to only help top end. So, I dont race much, but want more consistant power...ESPECIALLY low end if possible. Will I notice the difference if I dont race, with this intake?

Thanks guys!
The engine mods I want:
180 degree t-stat
CAI????
DHP 1.0
That is all I am ever planning on doing since I already have custom exhaust!

Only thing I really noticed was the fuel economy go up a little bit and the engine roared nice, but as far as power, I never played around with the dyno cause I wasn't interested in racing.

you notice a better responce with a CAI but i dont think it gives you any real gains in HP. and brad is right, better fuel economy and it sounds nicer at higher rpms

it might give a few, but not enough to register on the butt dyno. Doubleo is right though, it definately helps on the mileage. And it sounds badass to boot, plus if you are gonna do any other mods this is where to start so you might as well get one.

I agree with the guys above ... the CAI won't make any real noticable difference and like alerored said since your only planning those other things then you should just get it to round out the mods.

I have 2 agree also, it does sounds nice when u punch it. I can hear the cone filter sucking air when i have my window down. Yet the only increase I felt was at the top end around 4000 rpms, so no not the whole power band. But it is worth a mod 2 consider 2 add with other mods to get that much closer. Dont expect a big gain, but expect a difference no doubt, I did!.

Yeah everyones right, I scare the crap outta people with the noise the CAI helps make. Really there isnt that big of a performance gain with just an intake... 1-2 HP if ur lucky, for me it freed up a ton of airflow (old airbox had so much crap in there im surprised it ran). Once you get the DHP PCM though it serves as a multiplier to the exhaust you have and the intake, so you'll see more of a gain then.

even the Short-Ram K&N intake adds 5.39 HP on an Ecotec Cavalier, the FIPK on my mom's '02 denali adds something like 15 HP (both dyno'd). I don't know what the difference of a full-on CAI is... but anything will help.
