Upper and Lower Intake Manifold
Alright, well i didnt want to get off topic on this other guys thread about the upper and lower intake manifolds, im going to be getting my LIM replaced soon, but i have a few questions.....
1.) Are there "performance" upper and lower IMs out there??? lol, idk if that is a stupid question, but im just wondering, ive always wondered if there was.
2.) You can get your lower and upper manifolds "polished"? right? The mechanic i go to probably will be able to do stuff like that, i will have to ask, but you can polish them right???
3.) If my coolant isnt leaking that much, but the redlight comes on once every week-2 weeks, is it still alright to drive the car for another month?? i mean i try to check the coolant a lot and fill it when it needs to be filled, but i wanted to try and wait for my april vacation to bring my car in..... will driving it like that hurt my car? last time i went to bring in my car to get the LIM fixed, he said that the bolts holding it were ready to come out, so he said he just tightened the bolts back up andd everything was good, did that for free, but i know i have to get it replaced soon.....but the main question is, will my car be effected if i keep driving it like this? (the leak isnt nearly as bad as it was before he tightened the bolts)

if your light is comming on every 2 weeks, u got a good leak. why the hell would u polish ur lower intake manifold. the upper i guess would look alright but the lower is pointless.

yes ported and polished, thanks dude.
I only the stage 3 cai and the pacesetter cat back, but i will be putting headers in in about 5-6 months, and i will get the DHP from pfyc, maybe a bigger TB if i do get the ported and polished.
I mean why wouldnt it be worth it???
And do i just get a stock replacement LIM and have someone do the work to it? or do i buy a diff one?

You need to replace your water pump, if your filling up your coolant every 2 weeks, give or take another month before its shot, finishd, done

Right now, i dont have any $, so my mom said she would pay for the fix, now the thing is, if i just wanted to get the lower intake manifold thats ported, is that ok??????? or do i need to get the upper one too?
now is this what i should get for the LIM.....
http://60degreev6.com/store/index.ph...d&productId=44
That one is ported and everything right? i read what it says under it, but i didnt really get if it was ported and polished.....
now for some reason i did get the upper intake manifold, should i get this one..........

you can't put the 3500 lower on......without 3500 heads
Options:
3500 heads 3500 lim 3400 uim
3500 heads 3500 lim 3500 uim
3400 headers, 3400 lim, 3500 uim
i'm guessing with your budget you want the 3rd option.....
you could probably afford more for the engine if your sold those goofy chrome rims......

Ha, well one of the rims needs to be fixed, a little part of the lip is bent, so the air just goes out of it, and i need to get a new tire for it, so im talking $120 for a tire, and idk how much it will cost to fix it.
so i shouldnt just get the ported LIM???? i should get the upper and lower at the same time??? headers aren't coming for a while, but i thought since im getting the LIM replaced, i should look for a performance way to go, but if i need to get the upper one too, then i guess i will just stick with a regular lim

you can do just the lower but you wont see any gains from it until the rest of the parts are installed, it will bring your installation costs down since the mech will be down there anyway and i know there is no way in hell you will do it yourself. I would hate to see that thread. So yes you can do it now but dont expect significant gains in power until the uim and tb are installed.

ah ok, but im not going to lose any power right?
And it would be good to get a LIM that wasnt made by GM, cause dont a lot of people go through 2-3 LIMs??? i dont want to have to replace it again. So if i get this one, i wont have that problem again, right? woohoo
Yea that would be a funnnnnnnnnnny ass thread if i tried to do it myself nah, i know better, see im not THAT stupid!

you wont lose power. Im not following you on the non gm lim, oh i c you mean the gasket not the lim itself. Yes use the newest metal felpro gaskets and you should be safe. Gotta specify between the lim and the limg, there is a huge difference.

if you do decide to go with the gm gaskets, u shouldn't have a problem again unless the mech doesn't know what they are doing. i work at a buick dealership and most of the gm 6 cylinders have the gasket problems up to 2004. gm finally figured out what was going on and redesigned the gaskets. as long as the newest gaskets are on there, you shouldn't have a problem. but personally i would not go with aftermarket parts unless they are performance. they just dont compare to the oem parts.
