question about a knocking sound while turning

my gf is about to get a 1996 mercury villager off of her parents and were trying to figure out what is wrong with it. i tried driving it and the tire wobbles while driving ...gets smoother the faster i go. and whenever you make a left turn in it it makes a real loud clicking sound....kinda like a card on a bicycle spoke...can anyone tell me what this is so i can call around about getting it fixed for her..thanks alot
