What does everyone do with their systems in the winter (and by winter I mean at least -20C...). I currently have mine in my car, but I don't know if I should keep them in for the winter as it easily can hit -30 here... not to mention that my car's always outside... any ideas everyone?

not really a good thing. some people will tell you its ok, but it really isnt good for them. if you dont turn them up very loud right away they will be ok. but when they are really cold and you turn them up loud right away. the voice coils heat and become brittle or can warp.

I had my alpine in my trunk thru last winter (a REAL winter - a WINNIPEG winter lol) and it was fine, I dont pound it though most times, and if I do, I make sure I let the car warm up (the inside cab temp, with the seats folded down so that the trunk heats up too...)

Mine survived some harsh winters. Oh, wait, no, the first one blew up in the winter. I blame my old f*cked up amp though. Anyway, just let it warm up a little before you hit hard. Amps actually work better when it's cooler.

I think the general consensus is to let your car (including amp and subs) to warm up. I do know a friend of mine who just pounded the crap outta his system as soon as he turned on his truck. We'll never know if it woulda survived the winter as his system got ripped out halfway through the winter.

Same as everyone else is saying. Let everything get warmed up before cranking it. I drive for about 15 mins with vloume on low so the voice coils and amps warm up

when my system is cold i dont get anything out of my sub. Its totally dead until either the amp warms up or the voice coil.( i dont know which)
so i always let it warm up before i try bumping anything!

Thanks guys...
You saved me some work from removing and carrying that damn heavy box (I think it's pretty damn close to 100 lbs!) into the house. I'll just get that in-car heater, and leave the seats down a crack...

I just crank it up in the truck I don't care how cold it is, just drop the boom, helps shake the road poop off the bottom. Oh well 3 winters and going strong, with no problems.

well if you got a cheap ass system you don't give a poop about.. sure go for it take the chance of blasting it.. but when you got top of line high quality expensive audo equipment, you generally want to take care of that
