I found on ebay a chip that plugs into your air intake temperature sensor and suggests up to 20 horse power gain. i was just wondering if anyone has tryed one and what results they got. Sorry i bet this has came up numerous times but in new.

^ very true.
simple rule of thumb... (not the beating your wife with a stick one, but if you want to use that, you didn'thear it from me..)
if it sounds too good to be true about your engine... it isn't true.

The chip on Ebay is a resistor that has a higher ohms so you PCM thinks the temnperature is colder and dumps more fuel into the block hence more power. Do could do the same by stepping on the accelerator harder. The chip will cause you to spend more money on fuel, and a bigger repair bill when you have your engine cleaned. Speaking from experience.

i was also wondering how to turn off the top speed cut out. the dang car shifts down and 100mph and cuts out at 105 which realy sucks when racing.

The only way to get rid of the speed limiter is to get a PCM reprogram. DHP makes a chip for us... and ASE did, I'm not sure if they still do. They're about $250 if I remember.

Aleromod.com does not condone or encourage street racing. Illegal street races are dangerous to yourselves and all the innocent bystanders you come in contact with. We have seen that posting street race stories leads to unnecessary debating and flame wars.
Also, please don’t post hypothetical races… such as “Can I beat a Corvette?” Such questions spark debates and can not be answered with any degree of accuracy.

he never said anything about street racing. he just said racing. Granted, nobody here has needed to remove the limiter for the track yet, but he was being that general...

Alright, unless yall want this thing locked; he is racing a track. There is no way to hit the limitor on an autocross...so leave it where it is and lts move on.

although, you'll have to run higher octane gas if you get your PCM reprogramed. i'd seriously consider how often you go to the track and if the extra added cost is worth it...

You can't talk about street racing? Even my 55 year old father street races if some dude is lookin for trouble. This is a very...umm...interesting forum. I'm not really knocking it, but I guess freedom of speach went out with the macarana.
...just warn me and get it over with

Don't listen to these guys. I got one of those speed chips off of ebay and my tires break free shifting into 3rd like crazy now!! Before my friend used to destroy me with his Geo Metro (at the track of course) but now I destroy him with the chip! I think I'm going to break into the 17's when I get my intake and exhaust put on!!
