I guess you don't have to follow safety precautions. But they are their for a reason It doesn't hurt.
Just make sure you have your ignition on for a few minutes to let your fuel pump run to repressurize the lines. I did it twice (forgot some wrenches at work, had to wait and do it later) And it started on the first try after relieving the pressure. I just let it prime up first..
U'm not knocking you Big D. Just saying any published resource I've read, or mechanic I've asked; told me it's their standard procedure for fuel injected engines

The 2.4 doesn't even have a schrader valve. I've replaced mine 3 times already.
