mike - if you do it, let me know what was involved in getting them in. Although, its probably more than I feel comfortable tackling...

mlcroy - I think I looked at those ZRs and they were a little deep, how did it work out for you getting those to fit?

I didn't have any major issues with them really... I just made an adapter to hold them out a little bit more I believe it was about 3/4 on the top and 1" on th e bottom and then where the window track is at behind the speaker I notched it just a little bit (they use very thick plastic so it doesn't effect it to shave it down a little bit).. Looking back on it, I probably didn't need to shave it down any because I believe there is still plenty of clearance... I was just being precautious..

Ok now... I'm gonna use your username because there's 2 Mikes in this thread lol. Mlcroy20, do you know how thick those adapters are that I bought? and how much room is there between your interior door panel and the speaker? I'm just trying to get a feel for how much room I'm looking @ in there, and how much room i'll NEED after putting in that spacer.

Point Blank: With those 6 1/2" adapters, how deep can I go speaker-wise? I'm currently browsing theZeb, and I can't truly compare possabilities unless I know how much space I have back there to work with. I'd HATE to buy a set of speakers, then have to send them back because hey're too deep, y'know?

On a side note: Anyone have any opinions on MA Audio's products? I've got to set up an ultra cheap system for my brother in law's pickup, and the MA Audio's 5x7 looks like the best bang for the buck in his pricerange.

YB.. those adapters are about an 1" all the way around so I'd say you can easily go with a 2.5" deep speaker and be ok. anything more than that and you might run into a problem....

Jiffy, My I already modded my door panels for the eclipse. They are 2.75" as well. The cdt would be a drop in for me now.
Youngblood. I wouldn't go as far as to say that a 2.5 will fit. I realy think that anything over 2.3" would hit the door panel. I needed half of a inch to clear my eclipse (2.75").
I haven't looked into the MA audio for awhile. I have a older preamp and parametric eq from them. They seemed to be ok for the price range. I do remember seeing two reviews (over four years ago) and they were dissapointed in the product. Both reviews found the speakers out of phaze straght from the box. Inorder to eleviate the problem the positive and negative had to be switched.
