Push to start button
im going to install a push to start button, but i need some sort of wiring diagram for the wires that connect to the ignition lock cylinder.
ill splice the power and run and mount a switch which will serve as the power
and then splice the remaining wires for the "start" button.
( i know im missing a lot of details in my plans, but its actually real simple)
but i digress, does anybody know where i can find that wiring diagram

You're going to have issues with the Passlock if you do this. You can disable it for now, but if your battery ever dies or needs replaced you'll have to rewire the ignition in just to disable Passlock again. This is simple on older vehicles, I have it done on my Tacoma. Aleros are a different story.
However, what year Alero do you have? I'll see if I can find a wiring diagram for you.

you need to bypass the passlock system with a certain resistor i dont remember how i did it but i remember a thin black and thin yellow wire coming off the ignition cylinder that get tied together with a resistor. i also have a full diagram for a push start, not sure if im supposed to release it though.

you will need to bypass your passlock before this will work.

those toggle switches... which is momentary and which is on/off? Where is the power coming, that goes to the toggle switches?
and thats really all there is? I thought I saw richie's setup, and it had alot more relays/switches involved?
and whats the Amp rating on the relays?
your diagram leaves alot to the imagination...

point of this mod is.... make it easier for people to steal? unless you're using one of those fancy RFID fobs with it

both toggle switches are on/off. the only momentary "button" is the the one going from the yellow line to the battery, that is what actually starts the car. those relays are toggled on which turns on various things such as the fuel pump and radio, just like when you turn the key in the ignition. and yes thats all that there is. you can get very fancy with more switches but it requires more relays for it.

well you can look at it that way. i added in a few security features for it. if you are really worried about someone stealing your car (ie. in bad neighborhood) you can just pull the PCM fuse from the panel and then they arent going to be driving your car anywhere. I slam the suspension in my car and pull the fuse for my air ride when im in a bad neighborhood (not anymore since its not my daily driver.)

so... hide the switches and leave the ignition cylinder in its place with no wires going to it. They try to jack it and find everything is different... they'll probably just get pissed and trash the thing.

one of my friends in collage had an 87 suburban with a defunk radio in it. he wired it up so you had to push the preset buttons to tun the vehicle on/crank/acces/ and a few other thigns he had installed. it was kinda sweet when people would try and drive it. never figure out how to get it running.
