Cashdollar2009 Build Log
Well here is the first picture of hopefully a few to come. I am re-doing my subwoofer setup here in the next week for a competition next saturday. The box will be built for daily, but I would still like to see how it does on the meter.
Box Specs: 3.8ft^3 @33.8hz.....ish, you can see my torres calculations.
15" DC Audio Level 4xl (epoxy joints, extra spider, level 5 coils/soft parts)
2) runs of 2/0 to the rear.
2) Deka 9a31 Group 31 Batteries in the rear.
Big Three in 2/0.
Crescendo 3kwp @ 1-ohm.
Cutting the wood today, the build for the most part will be this wednesday. Stay tuned!

WOW thats tuned really low for a box that you can't fire backwards. That box is going to be thin for MDF and 3k on 15"s, or are you using birch, or planning to glass the inside.
Are you going to have that done in time for the show on the 26th?

Box is being fired into the cabin, i'm sealing it off. I'm using 3/4" oak dial rods for bracing. And it will be done this weekend for a competition at Pittsburgh Parts-a-Rama at the Butler Fairgrounds. I got a few buddies i'm meeting down there.
And *cough, one 15".

Oh, and my 2/0 came in today from weldingsupply. Impressed with the flexibility of the cable. Great buy, would recommend them to anyone!

The 2/0 is equivalent to many manufacturers 1/0 in car audio world.

And many manufacturers in the car audio world's 1/0 is equivalent to 2ga. Instead of going with Knu or Fosgate or any of the higher end companies that are known to sell true 1/0 I just chose to save out about $150.00 and bought 2/0 welding cable expecting to have two runs in the ballpark of "fat 1/0." I'm satisfied. $140.00 shipped for 50ft does the trick for me. It's flexible, and i'd recommend them to anyone in a heartbeat.

You gotta be careful where you buy wire.
The only thing you will notice with the wire you bought is the sheathing is thinner. Big deal, right?

Good choice of equipment. I am thinking of going from my 12" hdc3-A's to some DC xl 12's.

Dude...
If you continue that your sub will be junk. That was one of the absolute most horrible unloads I have ever seen.
Please send me your box layout so I can have a look. You either designed that bock incorrectly, way below tuned frequency or simply way over the subs capability.
You can clearly see where it went non-linear in a destructive fashion.
A very scary video for a nice sub.

Actually thats what I heard- camera shutter speed?
If that truly is going that non linear theres a huge issue. If its just the video carry on.

The video was taken on my girlfriends droid. Shutter speed ftl. Trust me, it doesn't sound that dirty in person. Good lord it sounds like it's bottoming out in the video? Once I find the damn charger for my good camera i'll get some good vids up. Hopefully i'll have the build pictures up tonight as well.
