door side vew mirrors - broken motor

Hi folks,
its been a long time again.

My prob right now is, that all of a sudden both of my side view mirrors dont work.
I took the door trim apart and testet the switch and the voltage that gets to the motor. All fine. But the mirror motor wont react. even if i hotwire or jumpwire it.

As I have seen side view mirrors are roughly 100$ a piece ... tooo much.
Is there a way to get the motor itself? Or is the motor serviceable?

Thx folks.

(junk or salvage yards wont work. not enough Aleros in Europe )

That looks like a total of four motors all went bad at the same time? Very odd.

Do you have a schematic to jumper/test from?

true, I suspect one of the wires that should have gone bad if the two at the same time stopped working....

4 motors?? Only 2 side view mirrors.

no, no schematic, my service manual CD has some kind of corrupted files on it, all of a sudden.
And Haynes isnt really a source.

I checked voltage at the plug to the driver side motor. The voltage gets to it. Pins depend on what kind of movement it should do. Even if I jump wire the motor side, it wont work. BUT does it get ground via the sheet metal, or via the cables?

Do you have a schematic at hand? (Or a working CD you could send me??)

Schematic shows up/down and left/right motors in each. The wires carry a 12V and ground for each motor which reverses polarity to go the other direction.

If you give me an email addr I will send you the page for the mirrors.

Hi folks,
thanks to you info that there are 4 motors in each mirror, I checked again. And yes 4 mirrors. And yes, they are working (at least the driver side)

I checked the voltage output of the mirror switch again -- and this time, one direction didnt work.
after a while, some other directions didnt work. Then everything worked, a while later - nothing worked.
So the switch seems to be shot.
The prob is, I cant find it on rockauto.
GMpartsdirect has it, but they dont deliver to Germany, nor list a part number.

Can someone give me the part number for an side mirror switch from a 4 door sedan?
It would be nice if there would be one that is cheaper than 55$

Thanks

I don't think the motor is a serviceable part.

I would go the the junkyard here and ship the mirrors to you, but they don't have power mirrors on the 3 Aleros there. The Malibu there the mirrors are gone already.

Did you try eBay? Maybe time for some GA mirrors. Of course the axis on the GA mirrors are backwards, but it will still work

they LOOK the same, but if they're the same size. IDK.

But as I know by now, my motors are fine, my switch is broken, or works sporadic.
