suicide hood

So i was thinking, I suicided my explorers hood using the buick hood hinges not an uncommon thing to do, has anyone tried this with the alero? and any thought on if it would look good?

Im sure it wouldnt be that hard at all, the explorer was very simple to do, as so was my bagged b-series.

The only issue I can see is the length of the hindge mount possible being to long and hitting the strut tower????? But again Im not to sure.

The kit from autoloc is a waste, the same hindge set can be picked up from a salvage yard and the bolts from napa vor 1/4 the cost of the kit, and either way it has to be modded, the cross brace, to fit the width of the car.

I was also considering it... so we took the hood off, propped it up as if it were already done, and I just found it too much of a PITA to work on anything under the hood, so that idea when right out the window... just my opinion though...

my friend did it to his alero. It didn't look good. so he had to reverse back to stock position. 2 days of work it took him. he used buick riveria hood hinges. when the hood is open it covers up the headlights and half of the front bumper. that took away the look of the car itself. So he had to undo his doings. LOL

You can still do it if thats what u want.

i always wanted to make a hood corner open. I saw it done at a show like 10 years ago and never saw it done again. there was a 18x18" area in the corner welded to the fender and the hood opened from that corner
