Gas Smell With A/c On
Guys, I need your help...
I started my car the other day and turned my A/C on and within seconds there was a strong smell of gasoline. I turned the air off, waited about 30 seconds and turned it back on. Still the gas smell. So i turned off my car let it sit for a few min and started again with the a/c on... no help. I live in TX and its too hott to be without a/c lol. But this doesnt happen everytime i turn on the a/c.
Does anyone know what's going on? I've never experienced anything like this b4.
The only repairs I've had done lately was having the catalytic converter replaced.
Thanks in advance for any and all help with this
and btw,... its an 01' 2.4

why don't you open your hood, and take a damn look at the engine bay and see if there's fuel sprayed all over. it's not that hard. look around the injectors, see wetness.
replacing injectors/o-rings/fuel rail crap is not hard at all and can be done very quickly. the hardest part is figuring out how the heck to unplug the wires.

Ditto. At least you could check for where the leak is coming if you dont want to repair it yourself. Open the hood, check around the fuel rail, start the car and try to notice if something is leaking somewhere.
Ion, those freaking plugs on the injectors.... UGH!

srsly that's why i'm not putting my Cobalt injectors in yet
1. don't want to have another epic fuel splash
2. don't feel like figuring out how they come off again
meh i know fuel injection but no clue on carburetors, old school, FI ftw

Unless they knocked something loose on the fuel side. The 2 are not connected
If it was a coil probelm, it would run rich or lean and you'd smell it behind the car, not under the hood

When I give my car more Throttle than usual (just because I love the way it pulls ) I can smell gas right after for a short period of time. I presume that I must run rich at WOT (which I prefer than running lean). So if his car runs rich, it could smell in the car, no?
Besides, my first car which was a 1986 camaro used to always smell gas in the car. I found out that one O-ring from the manifold was loose and kept getting loose so I was tighting the screws once in a while. I ran a full summer with that car that way, that must have been bad for my brain for sure! lol

I only smell it with air blowing... and then that pos only works on high lol. but i have the blower resistor, i just havent switched it.
And honestly, it may smell like gas only like 3 times a week. I make it to work and by the time i leave for lunch i dont have any issues with it.
