B888's Track Video 2 (9 / 25 / 10)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aXrIWlJ5_Io
O'Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis (9 /25 / 2010)
Completely misunderestimated gripping power of MT ET Street Radials (shredded those suckers) vs awesome "Delivered Trans Torque" available at the touch of gas pedal.....
Mental block: mind refused to accept that launch technique in Denver was obviously not working at Indianapolis.....
Enjoyed the absolutely beautiful day for racing near Indy and hospitality of the folks there, despite somewhat spartan racer provisions at the track....(notes to follow, eventually)
Counted blessings after driving 150 miles up, flogging car, and making it back home....
He that race and drive away, live to race another day....(or something like that)
(1:46 PM) 13.664 @ 100.82, 2.226 60 ft.
(3:21 PM) 14.069 @ 101.28, 2.501 60 ft.
(4:46 PM) 13.864 @ 96.31, 2.104 60 ft.

Thanks, guys. Yeah that's a little farther than I usually go to run. Finding a quarter-mile track with an open Test n' Tune type event in October seems to be a problem. Lot of stuff in November, but we have to hope the weather holds up. It's been a drought thus far.
I did almost nothing right up there at Indy, but live and learn
Within travel range is Beech Bend in Bowling Green, KY, where I got good times before, or possibly Mountain Park Dragway near Lexington , KY.
No, I am retiring from work in January, but the car still wants to go for 12's
Have to wait for another chance

There's a good chance of that, yeah. Lot of work to do there, too.
There was one kind of strange thing at this track, the pit area was mostly plain old grassy ground, unpaved:
Lucky for me I did find a 10 by 20 foot piece of asphalt to jack up the car. They also had no air pumps to inflate tires or a source of water for cool-downs. I eventually snuck the car in under that big tent behind the stands to get it out of the sun.
Just outside the fence there, this machine whizzed by, I think the factory where they build them is up there, too:
D'Oh!
It sucks when the other racer runs a terrible race, but still beats you. Even the announcer poked fun at me. They musta greased the track on me or something

At one time I planned a custom paint scheme that would harken back to the '68 Hurst-Olds, but never got time to pursue it. Meantime, it's 4 lbs lighter than original stock.

Cool on the paint idea, too bad you didn't finish it. What makes it lighter, did you make one out of fiberglass?

I should have said, because it has no spoiler, like my original.

Ah ok, that makes sense. It would be cool to do a fiberglass trunk though. I've thought about using bondo or fiberglass to shave that gap between the top and bottom part of the trunk, would just look better IMO.
