Make My Car go Boom.

http://www.jbl.com/car/products/product_detail.aspx?prod=GTO1204BP&Language=ENG&Co untry=US&Region=USA&cat=LEN&ser=GTS

Just picked up one of these for 100 bucks!

I need a nice amp to run it decently. I don't want too much of a boom. Anyone want to give me suggestions (or ebay links ) to where I can find something to run it right?

My headunit (If it helps) is http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PU...3900MP.Support

I've got a Scoshe Wiring kit to handle up to 1400 Watts. So I should be fine. Who wants to suggest the Power source?

Appreciate it.

3 hundo watts, eh? if you listen to metal (and i assume you do) that'll give you a nice thump that'll vibrate your back window a little.

I say go with a decent 400W amp. no reason to absolutely push the thing to its limits, if you have a stock system otherwise, it'll massively overpower the rest of the speakers, if you go too much higher.

....unless you want that...

How'd You know I listen to Metal?

and If it's rated for 300, shouldn't that be the amp you put on it?

Hate to burst the bubble, but your not going to like that setup for metal.

Its widely known fact that bandpass boxes provide a narrow band of greater efficiency. In other words theres going to be some note which are WAY louder than others.

I would search for a Kicker kx300.1 should be about $100-80 used on flea bay. Its a tad bit under rated so you will have some head room.

http://cgi.ebay.com/KICKER-ZX300-1-CAR-AUDIO-300-WATT-CLASS-D-AMP-AMPLIFIER_W0QQitemZ310083846941QQcmdZViewItem?hash =item310083846941&_trkparms=72%3A1205|39%3A1|66%3A 2|65%3A12|240%3A1308&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

$65!

On that Amp Ryan, the remote hook up looks a bit diferent. All I have for the remote wire is a blue wire coming off my deck. Would I need special connectors for that? or would it just work that I wrap the wire around a screw and tighten it down?

You just strip the wire bare and put it into the hole and tighten the screw on top of the wire.

For 300 WRMS that amp and price is hard to beat. Good solid amp.

^Doh. didn't know that about those boxes. meh.. its a start for him...

its rated at 300RMS (1000max if i remember correctly) so technically you can go as high as 1000, for only for a thump or two. to be safe, i'd go with 300.

and i think i remembered that your a metal fan from other music threads. (that and you look like the type. )

1000 watts max doesnt mean it can hold 1000 WRMS even for a bump or two. its a theoretical maximum current it can take. Like some amps claim 1400 watts MAX. like they hit that amount

Glad to hear.

Still working with the seller on the amp situation.

On a side note, this box has a Lighting system prewired into it. requiring a 12v Power source. Could I tap into the remote wire to have it light up with the bass hits?

Just a little update here.

I've got the amp and am Hoping to wire it tomorrow depending on the weather, I picked up a Wiring kit able to handle up to 1400 Watts, Just to leave lots of head room.

I've got the Remote Wires, RCA's the Main power wire, the ground and everything. I don't have any Speaker wire to go to the Sub, But I'll pick up some nice stuff that can hold some decent current.

From there, Is there anything else I need? And it it just basicly plug it all in?

Also, The Amp came with a Bass Controller, but my Headunit has that programmed in. Would I still need to hook up that bass controller? or would the Headunit be fine?

The headunit wont control the bass controller for the amp so I would use it. add them deebeezzz lol.
