The Thread Dedicated to the Worthless Cupholder in Aleros.

I know every alero owner has a story about the worthless cupholder in front of the shifter/gear select, lets hear some stories, and tell us what you use it for.

thats the one i use, the one behind the sifter won't even fit a normal plastic pop bottle, just a can only. THATS the useless one. the front one doesn't fit much either, but i can lean the bottle against the hvac control area.

The one in front of the shifter is the coin holder and the rear one will only fit a can or small water bottle. I've been looking for a unit that fits in the smaller rear one and expands to hold my coffee mug.

Or you could get a coffee cup that has the small bottom on it, and then it will fit.

I don't understand why some people have issues with the cupholder behind the shifter. Did they have different cupholders different years?

I think most people that have problems are those with automatics.... shifter goes farther forward and is in the way. I have to put my bottles there becaus they are to tall in the back and get in my way for shifting.

Best part is I use it for my coffee mug... after popping out the rubber it fits a mug with a handle perfectly!!

The front one always found itself full of useless change...lots and lots of pennies.

^They're talking about the hole in front of the shifter. The one like right underneath the console face.

It's not a fcking cup holder! We have one right between the seats, and two that flip out from the rear of the console. That's it. I don't know how many people think that the dip in front of the gear selector is supposed to be a cup holder.. It was an ashtray on the smoker models, and on the non-smoking models it's just a place for coins/junk/kleenex (they make facial tissue boxes that fit it)
