Saab parts???

I don't know much about Saab, but I do know it's a GM brand and the 9-3 uses a 2.3 turbo ecotec. Is anyone on here running a Saab setup or have interchanged anything from a Saab? I didn't search the site yet btw.

well a quick wiki search for 9-3 saabs delifert that 2 engines where used
first gen: 2.3 L B235R I4
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saab_H_...#B205_.26_B235

second gen: 2.0L Ecotec LK9 I4 Turbocharged
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GM_Family_II_engine#LK9

from here you can look for yourself what you're interested in.

The text for the first gen:
Quote:
It came with a turbocharged 2.3 L engine, (B235R) giving 225 bhp (168 kW; 228 PS) later 230 bhp (172 kW; 233 PS) on 20 psi (1.4 bar) of boost from its Mitsubishi TD04-HL15-5 turbocharger.

if you read on
Quote:
First generation 9-3 engines
Other than the diesel engines, all the first generation engines were versions of the Saab H engine. Other than the Saab 9-5, the first generation 9-3 was the last to utilise this all Saab engine design.
so there will be things to consider of you wanna put that engine family in a US GM car. But as almost all Saab cars featured turbo engines, it will be pretty easy to find sites on the internet that give you specifics about technical data you need.
You may be even lucky and find something in the GM powertrain division homepage.

Yes, you can swap over the turbo parts off of a 9-3 with the 2.0L LK9 to the 2.2L. Plenty of people have done it in cavaliers and sunfires, check jbody.org or ecotecforum for info. 2.3L Saab is a different engine and won't work.
