is it true of mmo

some forums online have people stating mmo and seafoam even more so will destroy seals gaskets anything rubber? r u serious do you think its true. i use mmo in my crankcase following manufacturers specifications of course but i love the stuff. to be honest it helps with the 3400 lifter tap in my opinion but if its possible to do damage screw that no more?

I've never used it but it is a solvent, which most cars of the past did not have seals designed to tolerate. Newer cars that are designated as flexible fuel or ethanol friendly would have seals and rubber designed to tolerate that kind of thing.

i used it on my car with about 150k on the engine. helped a little bit with rough idle problems, and didnt seem to cause any negative affect. slightly better mpgs too.

i dunno about mmo, but sefoam is awesome. i didn't notice much difference on my car, but on my old motorcycle it made a HUGE noticable difference. it actually idles now and will start when its cold. i also put some in my crackcase and lots of my engine tick went away. to bad resualts aren't as good on cars.

I purchased MMO(marvel mystery oil) for my car(2003 GL 2.2L) planning to add it to my oil. then i was lazy and just got my oil changed at a place and forgot it was in the trunk. so then i started using it in my gas tank, 32OZ, 4OZ a gas tank. right now there is 12OZ left in the MMO bottle and my car is running great.

what mmo(99% 2types paint thinner, 1%DMO) does is it lubricates from the fuel pump to the piston walls. also removes carbon deposits and when used in your gas, makes it more difficult for carbon to stick to begin with. also helps your lifters. i will use 4OZ in my gas tank every fill up. its only $7 and i get 8 gas tanks out of it. i want my motor running strong, i dont kitty foot my car. i hit that power band and take off.

ps, due to i was adding to the gas, i was nervous about effecting the octane so i used 89 octane. i can get 89octane for 10 cents a gallon more then 87. its like 80 cents extra a gas tank as i fill it up and put about 8 gallons in the car to top it off.

Pss, my alero has the special gaskets someone mentioned that are needed to handle it as it has "ethanol enhanced gas" in my owners manual.

I used Seafoam in my 93 Chevy and my 97 Cutlass, with good effect. I haven't done the intake or vacuum lines with it in the Alero, but I may try it.

Why use something that does a half assed job at best when you can use something that works. GM Top End Cleaner for combustion chamber cleaning(2oz in each cylinder for 4 hours and use a dif pump to remove excess before starting), Forte Injector and Valve Cleaner and then for the crankcase I've never used anything but the GM 6&8 cly oil stabilizer*Will fight lifter noise as well* I would never do an "engine flush" as offered by so many either. If you have deposits you want to get rid of, one to two oil changes with Castrol Edge Full Syn will clean it right up with 0 chance of damage to any seals.

Ive used it in my oil and fuel and went from a 18 mpg to 21 mpg and i usually baby the car i dont do hard take offs or nothing that would force the engine too much. Also i usually drive the same amount of miles on freeway and in the city. But i guess it just depends on if your car really needs a cleaning or not. If theres no carbon deposites or any type of gunk then the seafoam really ain't gonna do much.
