3'' Exhaust
Hey all,
In preparation for turboing, I'm going to do the full 3'' cat back exhaust on my car over spring break.
I want it quiet, like, I can't hear anything but spool and BOV quiet.
Opinions?

turbo cars are normally quieter
magnaflow straight through and then a dynomax super turbo
tada, maximum flow with minimum noise

im prolly gonna do dual side outlet, like right b4 the wheel well on each side and aimed back.
i know the back tires will be a bit hotter, but thats ok.
over the summer i plan to integrate the exhaust outlets into the body of the car.
I got pulled over 6 times this week. mostly for exhaust. cops are on something around here, and its either confiscated crack or a power trip...
i just want to make myself a bit less noticed

you'd run the risk of scraping that off at driveways though. just a little thing to think about.

Wouldn't be that bad. It's not like the pipe is near the center of the car. Near the wheel is OK.

All state troopers dude...its bullshit.
I know a lot of the Colonie PD from High School, most of them used to come to the school's annual car show. Local PD is a great group of people
Troopers, not so much...

I took my dad's work van to work Saturday, and he stripped it for me then.
I'll admit, I got a little upset when I pulled into the driveway.
It will be a sad day. The last of the tinted NY Alero's will have lost their tint, that I know of...
I still don't understand why they're making you strip the backs. Enjoy having it for its last days. If you want to go back to a tint shop to have it redone lighter, I'm getting 50% in the fronts and would go with you. I don't like people seeing into my car. But I don't like tickets more, and 50% is a good compromise with what I want and what the law wants.

Eventually when my car is STRICTLY a summer car im going to go 15% all the way around..... im keep the 15% on the rear window....but the sides have to come off.

Not legal. Exhaust must pass the rear wheels in most states

I can't wait to have a beater. May pick one up over the summer. I'm not gonna drive a turbo'ed car year round if I can afford not too...

That's definitely not true..
That would make things like the Ford Lightning (and some F150s) and the Dodge Viper illegal.
However the SLR McLaren with it's exhaust outlet just behind the front wheels is illegal in 5 states. (something about a 4 outlet system or something)

Agreed. And mine won't be hanging below the body. Integrated exhaust, meaning holes cut into the body. So even if it were to be illegal, it wouldn't be painstakingly obvious...

It all depends on the muffler(s) you have.
Then again, I don't think much of anything is too loud.
