tsx projectors coming soon...

Here in a couple weeks ill be ordering tsx projectors and d2s hids and will make a set of projector headlights.

I'm going to do cms1 myself and found a way to make an even cut off so the light doesn't flare up at cut off. (They are common for that) I'm not really worried about the flare though so we will see.

Hopefully I can knock this project out pretty quick. Just gotta figure out how I'm going to do it. And I will take pictures of my work and make a how-to for everyone since no one has yet.

Wish me luck! If you have any opinions on how I should go about doing it that would be great. :)

XanderWiFi 01-15-2011 10:48 AM

Sounds pretty cool. Good luck.

sleepyalero 01-15-2011 02:22 PM

Thanks man appreciate it. Hope it all goes well.

cavaliers60 01-15-2011 02:36 PM

Here's an opinion. Don't screw it up! :p

Good luck on them. Can't wait to see how it turns out! :)

Chris2000 01-15-2011 02:56 PM

I'll wait for the finished product.

cherrington17 01-15-2011 03:37 PM

jhubbz 01-15-2011 03:47 PM

falloutboy 01-15-2011 04:58 PM

Dont know if I already showed u this link http://www.nastyz28.com/

He is doing the same as u - only to a 7" round housing.
Perhaps you two should talk about this work.

***i'm PRETTY SURE I will be ordering the tsx projectors and clear lenses, shrouds, and d2s bulbs this coming up week. and will get started on the project in my free time.***

i work during the day and got like 7 hours of free time to do whatever depending on how late i stay up.

i can't wait to knock this project out! might be alot of stress or alot of fun. soon i will know... :yahoo:

also i appreciate all the feedback guys!

cherrington17 01-15-2011 06:43 PM

I'm intrigued to see how you'll retain the adjustments....

I've seen it done, but others tend to just skip it all together.

DONT SKIP IT

The guy in the Camaro Forum also had a posting where he talked about the different option to run with - and described their pros and cons.

Have to look if I can find it. IF you want.

sleepyalero 01-16-2011 01:45 AM

cherry - retain the adjustments to what?

falloutboy - that would be great!

cavaliers60 01-16-2011 02:24 AM

I wouldn't mind trying to put those HID projectors that move.... I saw a Buick with projector lenses... The guy started the car and the lights moved! (those ones that move to help you see the turns better)

To adjust the beam... some people go with fixed mounts after they install.. which is just dumb.

I too, would love this... BUT.. you'd have to have a MUCH more complicated install to get it done.

sleepyalero 01-16-2011 02:04 PM

cherry from what i understand there are 2 screws on the back of the projector to adjust them right? thats just what i read.. im not sure though.

also im kinda stuck... before i order anything how will i convert 9006 to a d2s bulb?

if you know what i need to get please post a link to it. :)

In my understanding - Nothing.
U stuck the D2S into the new projector and lock it - thats it. Like in the OEM ones.

If you look closely at the current headlights, u lock the 9006 (or H7) as in European models into the mirror part and cause your getting rid of the mirror and use projectors you need to fasten them to the housing.

Perhaps a long phone call with the guys at resto*something* is necessary to know what u really need and WHY.

sleepyalero 01-16-2011 02:22 PM

Retrofit source? Haha and well the 9006 bulb locks in but also it has a plug that plugs into where a stock bulb would go.

Pull off rubber housing on back of headlight and there is a plug to the bulb. I don't think a d2s bulb would plug into That?

cherrington17 01-16-2011 04:58 PM

I think your going to just splice the wires. I'd look into that more though.

Look up the guys who have done projector retrofits on the site, and message them.

Chris2000 01-16-2011 05:15 PM

all i have to say after reading the op's comments in this is good luck but unless you prove me wrong im 100% sure you're wasting your money on a project you won't accomplish.

 now get mad and prove me wrong.

sleepyalero 01-16-2011 07:40 PM

i will have to look more into that cherry.

chris - i looked through the threads on here. all i really saw was is that getting the adjustment right is the hardest part. once your done with that. work on the finished bezel and stuff.

im going to talk to the retrofit source tho and see what they can tell me about the d2s working with a 9006 plug.

I think it's impossible to upgrade to that kind of a system... Seems how it's integrated to the steering system somehow... I noticed they don't turn when in reverse.... Plus the housing to hold everything... I doubt our cars would be able to hold it.

Nothing is impossible. Its just not practical.

sleepyalero 01-16-2011 09:21 PM

i pretty much have an idea of the whole thing now. but need to contact TRS tomorrow and ask about running d2s to the 9006 and all that stuff.

i will order the stuff i need probably this wednesday. and TRS is just a state over so the shipping should be pretty fast.

falloutboy 01-18-2011 04:24 AM

Just to let u know.

Arrggghhh... well I'm back to square one. I was attempting to align the headlights tonight and it wasn't going quite as I hoped. The adjustability just isn't there. I'm thinking I need to retain the headlight buckets in the assembly to get the adjustability I need. Which means practically everything I've done thus far is wasted.

This thing is turning out to be somewhat of a pain, but I want these projectors and I want to get it right. I have an idea on how to incorporate the factory buckets, but it's going to take more some time I guess.

Perhaps u two should really talk to each other.

Thanks I just emailed him.

Going to call trs after work today.

sleepyalero 01-18-2011 02:45 PM

Just called TRS said they have a kit that will convert it. Gotta look on website later for it and will order them maybe tomorrow or Thursday.

Change of plans.. gonna get Lexus rx projectors instead. Comes with lens spacer and tsx clear lens. They are just as good as s2k projectors but cheaper and they are a little bit smaller then the tsx

sleepyalero 01-28-2011 12:25 PM

Im gonna have to wait till tax time and order the projectors I had to pay insurance and stuff

Chris2000 01-28-2011 06:16 PM

sleepyalero 01-28-2011 10:44 PM
