2.4 twin cam |
I just took a heavy duty staple gun for my grill 3 years of year round driving and its still fine
|
Foglights bolt to the reinforcement bar... you need the whole headlight wiring harness from an alero with fogs IF you want to do it right.. I ghetto wired mine to my battery and got the vent switch and foglight plugs from another Alero... I regret doing it this way every day. They work fine but it looks like garbage.
Supercharger can be found quite easily because GM made a kit for the 2.4 http://www.jegs.com/i/GM-Performance...rentProductId= Brake upgrade is a simple swap for the front atleast.. 4th gen F-body(Camaro or Firebird) Calipers or 97-04 Corvetee Calipers fit on our cars, but you need 16"+ rims: http://www.aleromod.com/forums/showt...corvette+brake For LED interior: http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-b...sp=%2F1157.htm OR you can try your luck with ebay LEDs which usually crap out on you after a couple months, but are super cheap. Also read this: http://www.aleromod.com/forums/showt...ed+ Questions |
I drill small holes and cable tie it in multiple spots along the edge.
Cleanest install would be a silicone caulk that adhered it. |

I sold mine for $850. They regularly are sold used on www.j-body.org. Here's one for $1500. |
how much hp do those super chargers make on average? Never mind I opened the jegs link..
|
Spend the money and get a real grille, gutter mesh is for, ummm, gutters :rolleyes2:
|
Quote:
i have the plastic black mesh on my car for gutters.. it's effing mesh, it's raw material, doesn't matter where the eff you get it as long as it's not steel that will rust... go on mcmaster.com and order whatever the hell you want. why pay more because it's called a "RACING GRILLE MESH MAD TIGHT YO" on some stupid performance site when it's something as simple as effing mesh. |
60 hp maybe with stock everything
|
supercharger is super-weak. i dyno'd at 185whp with mine and 2.6 pulley. best time 14.8 @ 91.
i mean it's definitely fun to drive and feels much quicker, but don't expect to be that quick. |
turbocharge FTW!
Just dont be cheap. If you build it cheap, it wont last for ****. Expect atleast 4k to t/c |

after reading through a lot of forums i got the sense that t/c has more problems than a s/c + i really dont have 4k to spend on one considering i want to do other stuff to my car and im a full time college student |
Quote:
wow i was off i was just gonna buy one of the fogs from autozone and figured id be able to just attach that one and wire it up .. guess ill have to find a local junkyard For the supercharger yea i have that link bookmarked but thats my last mod that i plan on doing as its the most expensive. For those LEDs is it just a simple screw into the older bulb housings? i plan on doing the 5 behind the dash , 1 under the drivers feet , 1 under the passenger seat , 1 in shift area and then a strip in the dome light .. i had originally planned on using the site that Pappa Smurf had in his guide (keyrazyleds.com) but for some reason they only accept money order or directly from bank instead of debit card And finally for the brake upgrade yea i saw a thread for that and i have it bookmarked so i know what to buy when im up too that |
yes s/c is plug and play, much less headache. :awesome:
|
Quote:
less of a headache plus i love the scream from it haha. hopefully by the time im ready for it i can find a good priced used one |
If i had the money i would turbo charge my 3.4... once you have the turbo... you can't go back!

For the LEDs in the dash.. you mean the gauge cluster right? The foot wells, the PRND321 shift bezel, gauge cluster and rear dome lights are all "194" bulbs. If you get the LED ones, they are all plug-and-play, BUT for the gauge cluster and rear dome lights you need the twist lock bases which you can get here: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/6pcs-168-194-...item2ebf483ee8 I've been running these exact ones from this seller for 2 years with no issues at all. I bought cheap ebay LEDs which crapped out, but these things tend to be sturdy. This eBay ad is for a pack of 6... Unfortunately you're going to need 7 if you want to do the cluster and rear dome lights. They're relatively cheap anyways so it doesn't matter too much. |

turbo gets welded on right ? Quote:
so i can buy the 8 or however many red LEDs it is from the site posted earlier & then just buy 2 packs from that link you just gave me and id be fine ? |
Question !
Next Friday i will be buying canuck springs off of marcfortier71. As of right now my car is only at 48k miles (was owned by an old guy in the city who never drove it). would i be safe running these lowered springs off of stock struts for about 3 weeks till i get the $ to replace them !?
|
yeah
|
Quote:
he's saying "you can't go back" as in you won't want to. you make a lot more power with a turbocharger. |
Quote:
is this a yea to the spring/strut question ? |

Sounds about right. It's always good to buy spares though. |

It won't rust if you powdercoat it :p |
is this thread for real??? am i seeing a build of a car well kinda of a build i guess, SILICONE IS NOT MEANT TO BOND ANYTHING TOGETHER, ITS MEANT FOR HOUSE USE, NOT AUTOMOTIVE!!!
THE 69 CAMARO IM RESTORING AT WORK HAD HOUSE SILICONE AND HOUSE ALUMINUM WITH RIVETS PATCHED OVER THE UPPER COWL AND DASH GUESS WHAT.............IT MADE THE RUST WORSE, GUESS WHAT......THE SILICONE DIDNT DO SHIT BUT JUST FILLED A VOID SO THE BUTCHER COULD SHAPE ALUMINUM OVER METAL if the mesh is metal, shape it to your bumper basicly making a template before you bond the mesh so just clean the inside of the bumper, go spend the money buy the applicator gun some 3m panel bond, and bond the mesh to the bumper its not hard, a monkey can do it so you do it and it will last the life time of the car your paint job it depends on what ya want but by juding on the pep boy seat covers and awesome red interior paint you sir have no clue on how to build a car sorry but i call it the way i see it a good decent paint job shops start at 6k and can go up and past 15k i start on the side at 3k and go up there are allot of butcher shop and hacks in my trade so be careful who you go to ask around ask on forums, if ya want quality you will pay for it bottom line in my trade enjoy |
Quote:
ill keep in mind that. i never said anything about silicone i asked for ideas on what to keep it on with. your idea sounds good and i will look into that. & my paint job is already covered as posted in a different thread. My neighbor happens to be my bestfriend and his dad is a car detailer/painter while his mom sells the automotive paint and i was told by them as long as i buy the supplies (which ill be getting a discount on) they will do the job for free . i have no "pepboy seat covers" YES i have seat covers but thats because i didnt like the color the cars interior initially is and it was going with the theme of the interior. as for the paint that was done a while ago and i regretted it once it was done (ALSO stated in a previous thread). These two things have absolutely NOTHING to do with the "building" of a car because they in no way affect performance but are rather done to my VISUAL liking. to each his own. This thread was made as a way to keep everything i wanted to do together with questions on how to do them without having to start a million threads. not whether or not i know how to build a car. thankyou. |
Classy... Zero sarcasm
|
I thought the tiki shifter wasnt cool but I didnt say anything.. You dont have to hate so hard. Im supposed to be the number one troll around here
|
Quote:
whats a tiki shifter ? if your talking about my shift knob (idk if you are) mine was changed from the original when my parents first bought me the car because the original one was broken |
he was talking about the shifter that bdyman had...here is a pic
|
While cool in a rat rod or old truck.. It was misplaced in a stock interior.
The point im making is everyone has flaws with thier car |
damn bodyman is a bit of a rooster
|
Naw thats how I trained him to be. You have to rub his belly, give him polish beer, and point him in the direction of the nearest glory hole to make make him happy.
Lol joking aside bdyman is an awesome guy irl, I consider him a good friend. He may come off a little strong to aome though |
Quote:
lol i have no problem with him i actually liked the idea with the mesh he gave. i just feel that you cant judge how "built" a car is by the interior. you can have a completely stock interior and know how to build a car or have a completely changed interior and know how to build a car. its all personal preference just like that shifter was. I choose seat covers because there effective and look nice to me. |
Quote:
I had a mint '74 Nova in 1976 that had bench seats, deluxe gray herringbone cloth upolstery. Well, that looked so good I wanted seat covers to keep them from staining. A guy at the upholstery shop suggested a crushed velvet cover with black vinyl front, side and back. Don't laugh, this guy was a biker and could kick your ass lol. Those covers wound up looking so good I got more covers to put over them! Anymore I just drape a t-shirt over the seat if I want to keep the sweat off it. That shifter is over the top, looks like a safety hazard. |
that shifter was hand built by me and oldsman, key point HAND BUILT! not store bought,, call it what ya but it was built not bought
my entire alero was customized by me NOT BOUGHT, i didnt have seat covers or go to home depot and by gutter mesh to customize my bumper i frenched a licensce plate pocket in a rear bumper and did it with plastic i hand built my rear bumper i hand built the frenched pockets that hold a 59 caddy tail light, i hand built the deck lid, my friend built the door trim panles, not home depot or the use of silicone to hold anything on my car so im who iam like it or leave it, but your thread states a build thread so i thought it was a build or a car but its a thread of bolt on home depot pep boys parts sorry but i just call it the way i see it |
Quote:
Your car, sure a lot of custom crazy random work all over it, but that doesn't mean it's anywhere near good looking. Really? :rotflmao: Quote:
