Tune Up

Does anyone know how to tune up an Alero? I havent seen any posts about it. Or where I can get one done for a reasonable price.

How many miles are one it? Look in your manual for what maintenance should be done. Then you can decide if you want to do it yourself. Half the plugs are easy to do. :)

dude yo ugotta be more specific when yo usay tune up. for all we know you could be talking about changing oil or changing a diaper.

misslindseysue is talking about the Scheduled Maintenance section of your owner's manual. There is a list of things to do at different mileage intervals. In my manual, these start on page 7-9.

Winterize

Winterize? I put on my snow tires, make sure my shovel, blanket, and ice scraper are in the car, and fill up the washer fluid with Rain-x de-icer.

If you bring it to any shop asking for a tuneup they're going to change your oil, plugs, wires, maybe coilpacks, fuel filter, and tell you to get the trans fluid done. That's the recommended maintenance at 100,000 miles (fuel filter is sooner, too). They might try to scam a coolant flush out of you too, depending what it looks like (mine actually needs to be done after a so-so LIM gasket job).

Really, look in the manual, it does tell you a lot, we can't tell you what needs to be done without knowing what you've done and how many miles are on the car.

For winter all you really need to do it make sure your heat works and you're prepared for the weather.

The other half are easy if you remove the device the wires plug into. I never bothered to look up the actual name. :)

Actually, we found if you had two people, one to roll the car forward, and one to set the parking brake, it would rock the motor a little, and you could reach those back ones a bit easier without taking anything off.
