Itch noise

With my Alero Coupe I am getting a rubbing itch sound that is very annoying between the windshield and defroster grille.
The colder the weather the louder the "itch" noise. When I push down on the long plastic piece (defroster plate) that sits between the windshield and dash, the sound will then go away as long as I am putting pressure on it.

Anyone had this problem and know of a fix for it?

Should I remove it and lube the contact points of can I spray silicone spray or WD40 between the windshield and plastic piece?

Also how do I take this piece out?

Please help because this sound is annoying.

I had the same problem last winter right after I got my car and I fixed it by a spray of armorall between the windshield and dash, and that corrected the noise. I am going to have to do it again because the noise is back this winter.
