This might be an odd question, but it slightly bothers me. :glare:

This is the first car I drive that actually has squeaking rear tires when cornering.

It happens when I drive European style and this doesn't mean like an Italian, yeah go ahead kill me for that one, but before you do try driving there yourself.

Now I've been in the States several times and hear tires scream every now and then, but always thought it had to do with the tarmac or possibly the tires.

I noticed it first when I took it out for a testdrive and made the remark to the salesman so they put on new tires when I bought it, which was a nice gesture, but obviously not the cause.

My question is simple as probably stupid:

Is there something wrong with the alignment or is this normal for this type of rear axle??

if you turn sharp enough, almost any tire will squeal...depends on width, tread, temperature, speed, angle of corner...lots can come into play...i highly doubt its an alignment thing..but, if they squeal going in a straight line, then there's a problem

can also deal with how well the tires are inflated. If they are over inflated, you'd be squealing them when you punch the gas around the corner.

My tires are almost shot with 42k on them and they are starting to do this really bad as well. I also have 30psi in them and they still do it. They even do it when I am turning into a parking space. I would say I only have about 3k worth of tread left though.

It could be the type of tires (rubber compound) as well. My car came stock with a set of Goodyear Eagle RSAs. They would squeal just turning onto another road at a low speed. Since then I've had a set of Goodyear Eagle F1s and Kumho ECSTAs - neither of which squeal (at slow speeds ;) ).

My guess is you drive like a lot of us and you tend to start to over power your tires in corners causing them to squeal or loose grip.
