ok new belt, new waterpump, flushed system, added waterwetter, 180 tstat, checked and washed radiator as best i could due to the condensor being in the way, just installed new lower radiator hose. everything should be great, BUT,
sitting in my driveway after letting my car warm up to normal temp, i ran it at at 3800 rpm, temp climbed to 210 degrees, let run at idle temp dropped to 181 within 5 mins, ran it at 3800 rpm climbed to 207 degrees, dropped back top idle 181 with 5 mins, fans are operating properly and i can find no other problems, so what next? this is driving me crazy!

damn......if you can you can look at your coolant rail, see if its ok, or you get serious and take your upper and lower intake manifolds off and ceck the coolant passages for anything, perhaps clean it up.
or perhaps you could look at your EGR.

EGR? why? my car runs somewhat perfect, except for the highway runhotter.

Hmmmmm, stumped
The only thing that is left is the upper rad hose, maybe it's clogged

possibly a bad reading on the sending unit that measures the temperature for the idiot gauge.
perhaps check the connection or look at the bung on that little plug right next to the thermostat area (under TB)

i'm running an autometer coolant temp guage right above the waterpump, and i've compared the reading to the pcm reading with my mac scanner and they are 4-5 degrees different. i've got a cooling system vacuum i use on diesels, i'm gonna vacuum the system tomarrow just to be sure there is no air in the system.

i have the tools to do that myself. the vacuum will show any system bypassing.
