Ok I went to a local exhaust shop, and since I live with a bunch of hillbillys they said that they would run a Y from the cat and then I would have duals, and they said it would sound alot better without a muffler than with a muffler. They also want to put these big 3inch tips on there, I said no becuase with no muffler a couple of big ass tips are going to make it sound like poop. I was thinking about these tips off of ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/GM-DUAL-EXH...sspagenameZWD1V (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/GM-DUAL-EXHUAST-CHROME-TIPS-TAKE-OFF_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33633QQitemZ7981758 320QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWD1V)
Would that quiet it down some, I would like a low rumble do you guys think that with those tips and no mufflers it would sound ok?

First off Jackal is right, you want stainless steel. Same shine but a lot lower maintance. Chrome could flake off and start rusting out.

Straight pipes is a big no no. You'll get busted by every cop that comes within 2 miles of you. They will hear you comming, plus 3 inch is way toooooooo big for a V6. The muffler and size of the pipes make backpressure which the Alero uses to make Horsepower. 3 inch and no muffler equals no backpressure and complete free flowing exhaust which will make your car a dog. PLus the sound will be horrible too.

Shop around, I have SLP (the GA kit) on my car and I love it. It was $480 shipped and will bolt right on. Borla has a kit too.

i'll add this, my setup was $250 installed...2.25" pipe (you can go 2.5" if you want), resonator removed, flowmaster 40 series muffler and oval ss tip.

my plan was to just use the stock cat and down pipe, then get a muffler like in the slp kit, but I don't know what kind of a muffler I should look for do one of you have a link? or like a part # of one?

Flowmaster 80's sounds really nice on an Alero. I had one before my SLP kit

I forget the part number but you can look it up on Summit racing's web page (http://www.summitracing.com)
