View Full Version : Obdii / Dlc Port
Hey all,
1 - where is the DLC connector? i took a peak @ 1155pm and with no light, not so much luck. (nothing in the car manual either)
2 - does an OBDII code reader work for Service Vehicle Soon codes? All the documentation for the reader said it works for all 'check engine', 'service engine soon', etc lights.. but no mention of SVS.
thx.

NO SVS lights are different from SES (check engine light). OBDII is a engine's computer. the Service Vehicle soon light has to body stuff.. like if your headlights are out, both taillights are out, blew a fuse to your parking lights .. anything like that the SVS light will come on. Or if you have a bad wheel/ABS sensor your SVS, ABS, and trac off light will appear.
But the OBD 2 port is located under the driver side dash. You'll see it, or feel it if you feel under your dash on the driver side around the middle/center. Its the only port plug.
You'll need to find someone with a GM TECH 2 scanner that will read SVS lights. No other scanner will read it. Maybe the dealer will read it for ya.

thx for the info. it's what i was looking for.
now as for the SVS/ABS/trac off lights being on - that's what's happening to me - happened before - and i know the wheel hub needs changing. but how do i prove which side I need to change without paying 50bux to my mechanic to read the codes?

Those light indicate that you have a bad ABS sensor in your wheel hub, which our hubs are sealed, The whole hub needs to be changed. For the correctly, bad ABS sensor, the only way to get it read.
You can't use a normal code reader for those either. You'll need to find a shop with a snap-on brand scanner with the ABS cartrige or the GM tech 2 scanner.
But a bad wheel hub with a good ABS sensor will not set those lights off. It'll just make a really loud noise and the steering wheel / wheel will feel really loose.
