First of all, I've heard this is a common problem, but could someone tell me what it might be??? Ever since I got the car the fuel gauge has not worked. It will always say full, until I start running low on gas, the the needle will drop down to empty and the low fuel indicator lights up. If I give it gas, most of the time the needle will jump right back up to full, and this will continue to happen until I fill up. I've been told it's the fuel sender, but I have a feeling that it is gauge related, because I have also had issues with the tach and speedo dancing around, or even maxing out, then returning to normal. Please tell me that this is some kind of recall or TSB, or at least help give me some insight as to what it is so I can fix it myself.

Secondly, I also have a problem with a popping sound in the front end, coming from the driver's side. It usually happens when I start backing up, I'll here a pop, and can even feel it in the floor board. When I swapped out my stock springs for some eibachs, I checked the struts and strut mounts and didn't notice and visible problems. I also checked all ball joints, tie rod ends, and sway bar links, and didn't notice anything wrong. any ideas???

any help is greatly appreciated, thanx

Well with the popping i can't really help you, with the gauges it sounds like it is the sending unit inside the fuel tank, also i would check were all the wires plug into the gauges (it sounds like it might be doing the same thing as when you disconect it then reconnect it so that might be loose and moveing around) but im not sure that is it.

sounds like the popping would be a mis-seated mount/bearing plate.

the gauge problem is most likely the sending unit
