So a friend and i installed Naich's CAI, it sounds great, i can hear and feel it sucking but on my way into town this morning it was shifting really hard, im thinking this might be normal, but the thing that concerns me is the service engine soon light came on, i dont even know where to look, what do you guys think?

Make sure your couplers are tight and you aren't leaking air.

yeah, my guess is that either one of the couplers isn't on corrrectly, and it is leaking, or that the censors aren't in all the way. This should be pretty strait forward, and it can't really do anything that would damage the engine. If you still get a problem after tightening the couplers and pushing in the censors all the way, then try turning it into a WAI first by putting the smallest piece of tubing attached to the filter, and attaching that to the MAF, and using the supplied grommetted coupler between the TB and MAF. If you still have a SES light, I honestly don't know what to say. Only 1 other person got a SES light after installing an intake, and I don't know why. Every car I've installed them on (my own included) never threw codes.

starting to think this has nothing to do with the intake, because i now checked my oil and it says i need to add some even though i just got my oil changed a couple weeks ago because the light came on 800mi befor i was due in.

so my new symtoms are just shift hard. got it planed to get my trans fluid flushed. hope that helps.

Good luck bro! Yeah, if it worked for a while ok before the ses light came on, it is probably something different throwing the code. I hope it works out ok!

if its still throwing the sensor code; I've had that problem before, its the MAF sensor plug. One of my pin broke off inside the molded harness plug. You can get a replacment harness plug at the dealer for 30 bucks total. After I cut and spliced in the new plug, it worked.

Long story short, I was driving home thanksgiving, car shifted hard and rough. Then SES light came on. Got a reman MAF unit and still didn't work. SO later i was fooling with it more and the wire inside of the harness came off.

Yea, my check oil light comes on a few hundred miles before its due for a change, too. My dad says it's because they reset the computer for it every time the oil is changed, so after the certain set number of miles passes (determined by the car) the light comes back on. It's not cuz ur low, the car is just warning you. I hope i explained that correctly, the last time that was explained to me was...forever ago.

umm chances are if ur getting that check oil light that soon between oil changes.
ur either
A. going to long between oil changes
or
B. Have some really dirty coolant and should probly get it flushed.

Cause that oil life sensor calculates the life of the oil based on the condition of the coolant and km's i do believe. (mite not be exactly rite but i did read that in someplace that it has something to do with cooland)

no your oil light is set off by how many miles you drive too. it suppose to come on at every 7500 miles automatically. Thats why you need to reset it after every oil change.
