creamy stuff in oil?

I was changing my oil today and when I took off the cap there was this coffee colored creamy stuff on the inside of the cap and around the inside rim of the valve cover (looked like something you would order at starbucks). I could see some of this creamy stuff draining out too. There was also some dried bown stuff inside too. Usually when theres milky stuff in the oil, isn't it most likely do to a blown headgasket? I have an 03 w/ 28k, my car has never overheated or anything (well it's been like 10 degrees up here lately but i still do some highway driving). My coolant level is fine, I haven't checked to see if theres any oil in it, I'll have to do it tommorow when the car is cold. Theres some stains on the head right below the lower intake manifold where it looks like something might have seeped out a little but doesn't look that bad. I have warranty so I could bring it in but I already wipped away all the creamy stuff away so I'd probably have to wait till it develops again cause they'll just tell me it's not a problem since I never overheated.

Sounds like a leaking gasket, especially with the stain. I'd take it in when you have a chance, point out the stain and tell them about the oil, and oil in coolant if you have any. I got mine fixed when there was just a stain and a tiny bit of oil in the coolant.

well...I did get a little excited hehe, I called to make an appointment (earliest they had was next tuesday) I have to bring it to some Saturn dealership since they already closed the Olds dealer I bought my car at. Do the gaskets suck that bad that I drained out like a 1/2 quart if milk (seriousley) after 28k? I've driven my car like 2 miles since the oil change and that crap already built up again under the oil cap. So if they replace the gaskets the engine still gonna be gunked up with that crap, I've got 8k miles of warranty left does anyone else think this motor is gonna have a short life span? I don't plan on driving my car until I bring it in, well except to work which is only 2 miles away.

Well I just found out it is a blown intake manifold gasket and was told I have a lot of condensation or somethin in the engine. This is friggin ridiculous a year old and 28k miles and I got an engine thats crapped up with that stuff. GM better give me a free extended warranty after this.

GEEZ...you would think since GM has updated the gasket, that the 2003's would have the new one. That makes no sense to me at all.

K Dan, the replacement gaskets are designed correctly, and I do not think that anyone here has had a repeat problem with the new gasket. I think someone had a second leak, but they later found out that the replacement gasket was not the new one. Same gasket, so it blew again.

Got my car back today, on the repair sheet it said they flushed the engine 3 times and also after the repair the engine was skipping and they had to replace all the injector o-rings. Didn't have to pay a penny, just gotta call GM now and tell them I want an extended warranty, I guess it's good that they flushed the motor but who knows how long that crap was in there for and the guy at the dealer said the leak was real bad.

I was told when mine blew for the SECOND :angry: time, that the first redesigned one needed to to again be redesigned. :huh?:

First time I was getting coolant in my oil, second time I was getting oil leaking out of the engine.

My thoughts are that there is eaither no replacement gasket atall and its a line of BS... OR.. The first one I got wasn't a replacement gasket and hopefully this new one is.

I can't even believe that GM is stiffing its own customers this way. This is a recall item or at least a free replacement item IMO. I have been considering getting a new Grand Prix as my new car, but am seriously considering another company because of GM's handling of the 3.4 intake manifold gasket problem. How many hundreds of thousands of these engines are out there with this exact same problem?
